In reality, he took a shower and went to work. He didn't report the murders until the next night).

That's my first gripe with just the DeFeo segment. The second gripe with the same segment: no news footage!! Just an older DeFeo telling more lies, and one dumb picture of the house. Infamous Murders from The History Channel, I believe, had a nice reel of news footage covering the night the bodies were discovered.

Now I'm not sure if I should bother watching the rest. I'm tempted to just throw the whole set away.

Actually he went to the bar after he committed the murders and told the people in the bar what had happened and they came with him back to the house and that's when the cops found out about it. It was into the wee hours of the morning, not the next night. My family is related to the DeFeos and the Brigante's (Ronald DeFeo's grandfather was my Uncle Mike). I've been in the Amityville house...my family's been in the Amityville house...we know the whole story inside and out.

Thanks for that, but that conflicts with all the written history.

The murders occurred between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. on November 13, 1974. The police didn't arrive to the scene of the crime until the early evening of November 14, 1974. It had been approximately 15 hours since the murders took place. After the murders, DeFeo took all the evidence and deposited it into a pillowcase. He showered, changed into fresh clothes, threw his bloody clothes in the same pillowcase, and drove off to work. He discarded the majority of the evidence in Brooklyn, near the car dealership where he worked. He was there very early, so he had breakfast at the nearby diner and waited for the dealership to open at 6 a.m. He remained at work until around noon on the 14th before returning to Amityville.

These are the documented facts. They are undisputed. There is much speculation surrounding the murders, but these facts are not a part of it.

No, I know. I totally understand what you're saying. I've actually spoken with "Butch" before on the phone and his story changes constantly. He even said he would tell the real facts when his grandparents died. My Uncle Mike (his grandfather) died a while ago and my Aunt Ann (his grandma) died a few years back. I also read letters that he wrote to my family and he's definitely not all there, so it's not surprising that there could be all different documented stories out there.
