Every Robert Rodriguez extra he's put on DVD... Especially the commentaries.

Warner's inclusion of the entire 1933 early technicolor feature Mystery of the Wax Museum on it's disc for House of Wax.

A couple that I haven't seen mentioned, but I'd have to give props (aren't I cool now!) to remakes that include the original film as a bonus, such as Meet Joe Black and Truth About Charlie . . . I believe Scarface was already mentioned . . . any others?

my personal fave....the collection of extremely, rare trailers that are found on the German, Blutige Seide disc...from horrormaster Bava. a must and essential for serious horror fans only. this is the the film better know as, Blood and Black Lace. it came encased in black velvet and limited to 1000(?).

not even close with the awful MJ comparison. well, maybe if yer smokin that crack. for providing that little bit of poison next to Bava...may his ghost take you by the hand and dump you into a living hell. :D

 Thermian soundtrack on the Galaxy Quest
-ptth- Unfortunately I can't think of anything else off hand that hasn't already been mentioned :( |
The deleted scenes on "Donnie Darko" and "Dungeons & Dragons".
The alternate Blarp scenes on "Lost in Space". The legendary alternate ending on "Little Shop of Horrors". The Dallas cocoon scene in "ALIEN: SE" The movie soundtracks on "My Name Is Nobody" and "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage". The MTV Movie Awards spoof on disc 2 of "Matrix Reloaded". The alternate endings on "The Watcher in the Woods". The 45-minute documentary on the "TRON: 20th Anniversary set". "The Beginning" documentary on "The Phantom Menace". The pseudo-documentary on "The Blair Witch Project". |
I'll just have to second some already mentioned.
The Hunter S. Thompson commentary is probably my favorite, in spite of the weird noise he keeps making. I don't even like the movie, but the purchase was well worth it just for this feature. Probably my most viewed special feature is the video on Ghost World. It got me interested enough that I bought a bunch of Bollywood movies, including Gumnaam (which is not up to the standard of that scene, but does have one other good weird musical scene in it). I also really like this one stupid deleted scene on Bring It On where she's practicing SAT words. The alternate ending and Ashley Judd court scene from Natural Born Killers were pretty good ones too. The Commentary on Fast Times at Ridgemont High (writer Cameron Crowe and Director Amy Heckerling) is pretty entertaining and informative. Another one I liked: the Brad Pitt-only subtitles for Snatch. |
12 monkeys doc.
I bought Mission Impossible 2 for the short MTV special with Tom Cruise and Tom Crooze (Ben Stiller). I thought it was funny. |
The ANIMAL WORLD dinosaur sequence found (rather incongruously) on the BLACK SCORPION DVD. This ten-minute sequence represents the only worthwhile footage from this otherwise crappy Irwin Allen documentary from 1956. Until now, all we've had of this crude but remarkable Harryhausen footage has been the 21 3-D still frames on the View Master "Prehistoric Animals" set, and a few excerpts used in the godawful film TROG.

Memento's chronological order feature is my favorite.

the Mattress Man commercial on Punchdrunk Love

I hope that Music Video from "Ghost World" isn't catchy or infectious, as I have seen it described - I would hate to end up twitching uncontrollably like that, it looks painful and probably not treatable. -eek-
I thought the funniest part of the Pitt-only Piker subtitles on "Snatch" was one place where even the person doing the commentary couldn't figure out what he was saying. |
Don't spend much time watching extras, but I did spend a shitload of it reading through the entire Freaks and Geeks LE Yearbook.

Some of my faves have already been mentioned... "Little Shop.." and the "Freaks and Geeks" yearbook...
But I love that the "Grand Canyon" film is included on the "Sleeping Beauty" DVD. Gorgeous film... great music... |
"Play All"
There's nothing that annoys me more on DVD than arrowing through dozens of 30 second featurettes. That's why I love the doc's on DVDs. But for the specific features.... -All the Monty Python discs have some unique features that I thought were great. -The newer SNL discs have some cool extras. Will Ferrell's V1 dress rehearsal was as funny as the show. -And the subtitle track on Pulp Fiction is the best subtitle option over. Very interesting stuff in there that can completley change youre view of the movie. |
