What is the BEST bonus feature ever, to you, on DVD?
 

The title does not mean to reply "Commentary tracks are the best feature" or "deleated scenes are" but, more so, what is the single best feature out of the usual features (or, in some cases, unusual) you have came across on DVD. This could be anything from a certain packaging to menu screens.

I suppose my top would be Hunter S. Thompson's Commentary on Criterions Fear and Loathing. I mean, here is a guy I have read since college and he is doing commentary on a film (one of my personal favs) about him.

Up there too would be:

*Book of the Dead packaging
*Monster Legacy busts and the old trailers
*The 100s of archive photos on the Chaplin sets
*The revisiting locations on the Holy Grail DVD
*Weird Al commentary and deleated scenes from UHF
*Requiem for a Dream menus
*The documentary coupled with Citizen Kane
*Seperate track fo Superman Score
*Bjork songs from Dancer in the Dark seperate with DTS
*Queen Commentary on the video discs

But the Hunter Commentary tops the list.

That doc on the 12 Monkeys disc.

I always loved the commentary for GHOSTBUSTERs back when I first got into buying DVDs...

The LOTR EE stuff is always great, not as much for the movie, but for the hours long stuff they have for the making of and the armor, weapons, etc. Always fun to watch.

I look for great commentaries more than anything. Always fun to listen to. Especially ones like FIGHT CLUB, and most Kevin Smith films. Always funny.

I want to add now the hundreds of sketches and artwork from the LOTR EEs! Amazing to look at (especially with the commentary)

The Spinal Tap "in character" commentary.

The NFL Films presentation of the 1992 NFC Championship game between the 49ers and the Cowboys on the history of the Dallas Cowboys 2 disc set.

I would say the making of Jaws documentary if it wasn't chopped in half! :mad:

I thought the Black Hawk Down commentary with the soldiers was great.

Best ever for me was the Bubba Ho-Tep commentary from "The King."

Without a doubt, the original ending to Little Shop of Horrors (the musical). Can only imagine how it would have been in color.

Next would be the Stairway to Heaven deleted scene on the Almost Famous bootleg edition.

The ability to cut straight to the music numbers in Dancer in the Dark. All musicals should include this feature.

While I'm on the subject, all DVDs should include isolated film scores.

The Ebert commentaries are the first thing that came to mind.

Kind of a cheat here but the Hulk Still Rules dvd has Hogan Matches listed as extras. I enjoy watching the matches much more than the Biography/Show itself.

I'd say the alternating intro animations on the Star Wars DVDs, along with the cool animated menus for the different selections, ie. Chapter selects, Audio menus, etc.

I'll also second the Ebert and Rodriguez commentaries...if a disc has those, I'm getting it for sure.

A second for the Abyss documentary . . . the MTV parodies on the LOTR EEs . . . another nod for the documentary on The Thing . . . the featurettes on the Great Escape . . . the Thermian language track on Galaxy Quest/monkey commentary on Planet of the Apes . . . and while I haven't had a chance to watch them, looking forward to the extras in the Alien Quadrilogy and Hellboy's 2 1/2 hour documentary . . .

Voices of Light soundtrack on Criterion's Passion of Joan of Arc. Sometimes, I just listen to it when I'm working around the house.

Some great stuff mentioned already. I'll add the feature length documentary on The Exorcist:25th Ann. Ed. DVD called "The Fear of God:25 Years of The Exorcist". This is one great doc in my opinion(the whole disc is great for that matter).

I will add two:

The commentary by Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman on Blood Feast. Fascinating look at making and marketing the first "splatter movie," in early 60's America, and all the low-budget compromises necessary to actually make the film. Very funny and insightful.

The musical number from the movie "Gumnaam" on the Ghost World DVD. I must have played that infectuous clip 20 times before sending the DVD back to Netflix. In fact, I'll prob. buy this DVD solely for that extra (the movie itself was mediocre).
