Longtime Companion OAR?

Does anyone know what the OAR of Longtime Companion was when it was shown in theaters? The DVD is 1:85, but a friend of mine thinks that it was fullscreen and the top and bottom of the screen has been cut off. Does anyone know how it was shown originally?

Not certain what the original theatrical aspect ratio was, but the movie was originally filmed for PBS' "American Playhouse". I've seen the widescreen version and it appears to be a matted version of the film shown fullscreen (open matte) on PBS in the early 90s.

Not quite the answer to the question you're asking, but hopefully it helps with a piece of the puzzle.

Thanks, that was exactly what I was asking about. My friend seems to think there is stuff missing from the bottom of the screen and we weren't sure whether it was a matting issue or not. It probably is. Thanks for confirming that.
