My option isn't on the Poll.

I'm not buying it b/c I am one of only 3 people on the planet that hates Star Wars & are annoyed to death by it's fanatical worshipers.

Well George, the funny thing is, this country actually IS a democracy. And I'll be voting with my wallet on September 21st.
Two things:

1) Actually, this country is a Constitution-based Federal Republic, and

2) There is no voting in capitalistic economy. The suppliers put out there whatever they want, regardless of what the consumer actually wants. However, how long the suppliers stay in business is directly related to how well the consumers support the choices of the supplier.

As for my reply . . . I went with yes . . . I like the new versions.

Wow... over 50% (as of this post) don't like the changes, but will still be buying it.
You can bet that a far greater percentage of SW fans all over the country, who don't like the changes, will buy it sooner or later, despite what is said in here.

I'm like Josh H. I like most of the changes I've seen. There are one or two that I don't like, but the good far, far outweighs the bad. So I'll be buying this with a sparkle in my eye and a huge grin on my face, all the while hoping the originals see the light of day eventually.

However, I can't honestly judge anything based on bootleg screencaps that may be from check discs and not the final discs. So I'll wait until I have the DVD before I render a final judgement.

No sale for me, but I wouldn't have been buying under any conditions.

I'm not a big SW fan. The first (fourth ) one was pretty good, the second was really good, the third one dropped off precipitously from that, and everything since then has been teh suck. The next (last? ) one will be the worst ever

(just MHO of course )

I want another option, too... "Yes, I already pre-ordered it and I would gladly buy the originals, as well... My childhood is not raped by the changes, but it would be nice to have both versions (the one Lucas wants to give us and the one Lucas gave us originally and arguably originally wanted to give us)..."

I know many of you mention wanting other options but I wanted to keep the poll as simple as possible. I did not want 27 different ways to say why you are buying it or not buying it.

Option 1: You like the changes or you don't care & plan to buy it no matter what. You obviously prefer the new ones or you would choose option 2 or 3.

Option 2: You dislike the changes but will buy it anyway.

Option 3: You will not buy the new versions no matter what & only want to purchase the OT.

Option4: You either dislike Star Wars or don't care at all & don't plan on buying it.

That pretty much covers all the bases. This isn't starship science people.

Well that really depends on what kind of starship, now doesn't it?

The only change that bugs me is "Greedo shoots first". That totally ruins Hans persona of being a scoundrel.

All (ok, ok, maybe not "all') other changes actually make sense in the bigger picture.

If I don't like those other changes, I'll just close my eyes for the few seconds they're on the screen.

YES!!! I'm buying the new versions, happily... and

YES!! I'm pirating the originals, since they are at least as important to me as these revisionist editions.

I'm buying these because I want to see these films in the best format available at this time.

As for the changes... the few that I have a problem with, I can still visualize how they were from memory. Whats a few seconds? There is so much more to enjoy during the WHOLE movies. The movies will look and sound incredible.

These are only movies and life will go on...

i'm going to wait and see how these 2004 cuts turn out.. maybe rent them first and see how i feel about them.. if i'm okay with them (not a gargantuan fan, but i dig 'em) then i'll probably buy them but i'll start by waiting and seeing how they're received.

I'm one of the people who won't be buying the set. I love SW and if I thought the original versions would be released I'd gladly buy the upcoming set. Since Lucas doesn't want to do that I'll pass though I'm sure my missing $20 won't hurt his wallet or feelings in any way.

Yes I'll definitely be buying the SW Trilogy. I have mixed feelings about some of the changes, but it'll be a treat to see these films digitally restored and in 5.1 EX sound. Plus its got Lucas commentary on each film, can't pass up on that.

I'm buying it only for the reason to watch the Boba Fett fighting an Ewok easter egg.

My feelings exactly, so I chose not to vote. In my ideal world, they'd release both orginal and updated (and they'd get my money twice if they did).

Nope. I'm not getting it.

I have the *cough* originals *cough* on DVD. I'd rather stick with their subpar quality and enjoy the movies I grew up with.

As opposed to this generic shit he's stuffing down our throats.

I am absolutely going to buy this... probably 2 copies in fact... I don't prefer the changes, but if that's the only way it's coming, that's the way I'm taking it.

I like the movies.
The changes are mostly for the better...
better sound, better video.
I Don't think greedo shooting first and a bunch
of extra creatures walking around change the story.
And I like the Jabba extra in a new hope.

I'd rather the few seconds of footage changed,
then to have the whole movie in Mono and with a grainy
picture.

Bottom line, Im buying.

None of us will ever beat Lucas, all we can do is buy his crap and bitch about it until he releases what we want... Then we'll probably bitch about that release too.

I'll be picking up the Trilogy. Even though most of the changes really bug the shit out of me.
