I hate menu spoilers. I just started watching Alias, and on Disc One of season 2 they run a commercial for season 3 which gives away SO MUCH it seems that I couldn't believe it ran before the season two discs. Oh, so annoying. I purposely tried to avoid reading anything about these shows, that often rely on suspense and surprise to work right.

Is it too much to ask that the menus and ads preceding the series (which shouldn't even be ON the disc) NOT spoil the show?

I mean, they have a "sneak peek of season 3" that I could just NOT watch as an extra already - why spoil it?

Argh!

Anyway, I joined Netflix pretty much solely to watch 24 without having to spend $90, and it was a great month of DVD watching to catch the first two seasons. Can't wait for the season 3 dvd.

I'm surprised studios haven't learned to quit including spoilers in their menus and promos. Fox should know that probably the biggest reason 24 has been able to grow in viewership is because people discovered the show on DVD.

There are a lot of first-time viewers looking at these DVDs; it would behoove Fox to remember that and try not to upset these (maybe) future loyal viewers.

yep. Season 2 was the same way. I learned to navigate without looking. Then when I watched it again with my wife, I had her turn away when I was on the menus. It is kinda sad that the feel the need to do that.

Pretty sure he meants both seasons 1 and 2, and to walk into a store and buy them new is "about" $90 or so. His point is still made, no matter the actual price.

Ah - I thought he meant $90 for each.

Still, you gotta admit, you get way more bang for your buck with these 24 sets than any movie dvd, in that for the price of 2 movie dvds you get approximately 17 hours of a show (along with an anamorphic transfer, 5.1 surround and extras) - though the rewatchability of it is somewhat questionable...

It's just that I figured 24 wouldn't be rewatchable really, episodically. And I was right - I'm glad I rented it, but the entire season is really one long story - I don't see myself watching these as one-offs out of order, like you'd watch Star Trek or something in syndication.

And yes, I meant $90 for both seasons - at the time I joined Netflix the cheapest you could get either season for was around $45.

And I've since rented many season sets for only $20 a month, saving myself hundreds on some shows that were only okay and not worth the money (by my estimation - I'm sure others would be happy to spend over $100 for La Femme Nikita).

Anyway, looking forward to renting 24 Season 3. That's the problem with waiting until a show's on DVD to watch it - sometimes it's a LONG wait between seasons.
