Ken Burn's Documentaries to be Rereleased by Paramount
Per DDD all the Ken Burn's documentaries are being rereleased September 28 by Paramount. Does anyone know if these will be the same as the existing sets? The sets include Jazz, Baseball, Civil War, America, and the West. The price seems to be about the same.

There is not indication that there is anything special about the re-releases. Some do have a small price reduction, but others are listed with prices to match the original releases (which are still technically in print, but are being "phased" out).

I don't know about these re-releases, but I'm liking this new A&E re-release of The World At War. More discs, features, and reduction in price.
Although I wouldn't mind having the Civil War set.

I think they are getting a price drop. I placed an order for the Baseball set during the DDD sale, only to have it discontinued. It's back up now, with a release date of 9/28 and a price tag of $108, $20 less than it was on the site before.

A price drop would definitely make The Civil War set more attractive.

I would love JAZZ but would never pay what they ask for, even at Costco. I have always hoped someone would sell theirs for $50 used but that's not going to happen.

DVDFile reports:
Led by reissues of many Ken Burns classics - all previously released by Warner Home Video - the studio will unleash the following multi-disc sets: The West, The Civil War, Jazz and Baseball. All features are the same specs as the previous Warner versions, and retail will list for $129.95 for the first two, and $179.95 for the latter two.
Also on tap for the 28th are nearly a dozen single-disc docs: Thomas Jefferson, Not For Ourselves Alone: The Story of Elizabeth Cady & Susan B. Anthony, Frank Lloyd Wright, Ken Burns America Collection: The Statue Of Liberty, Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery, Mark Twain, Horatio's Drive and The American Experience: New York - The Center Of the World. List price? $19.95 a pop.
last but not least, Paramount will also release the box set The American Experience: Chicago - City of the Century, which will list for $79.95.

I wonder if Paramount will repackage the larger sets like Baseball and Jazz in slim cases to cut down the size.

It's probably gonna be similar to what they did to South Park season's 1 & 2 which they also acquired from WB....i.e., they'll just replace the WB logo with a Paramount logo. They actually raised the price on Season 1 from $39.95 to $49.95 (I guess it sorta makes sense since seasons 2-4 are also $49.95).

I remember seeing an ad for this in either VideoBusiness or Video Store Magazine. If I remember correctly, they're going to be repackaged in thinkpaks (think Family Guy) as opposed to regular size cases.

Baseball and Jazz have both been repackaged in the ultrathin slim cases. They are probably half the size as the original package. The New York doc by Ric Burns has also been repackaged in the ultrathin slim cases but it also has a new disc added. The new disc contains everything about 9/11 New York. Prices are still ridiculous however.
Also, if you saw the new Ken Burns doc on Jack Johnson, it's already out on DVD. Picked it up at Best Buy for $20.

Just went to Movie Trading Company in Arlington, TX and they had Ken Burn's Jazz for $90. This was a brand new copy with the new ultra slim cases.
Anybody else seen any good prices on any other PBS films?
