Everyone should be aware that all the movies on the list will be released in 2005. We are just voting to see which are released first. I believe most, if not all the movies in last year's list have been released. I sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I chose Random Harvest, The Search, Test Pilot, Dive Bomber, and I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG

I would also like to see CAPTAINS OF THE CLOUDS , GREED, and LUST FOR LIFE but you can only select 5.

How could they not have the classic John Ford / John Wayne western "Fort Apache" on the list? Warner owns the rights presently, so you think this would get the nod over Kansas City Bomber...
Probably depends on state of material. "Fort Apache" was an RKO release and as has been stated many times the RKO Library is in poor shape and requires much restoration.

I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG is a fantastic film. Glad to see it getting so much love in this thread.

None of the others really thrill me, though I, too, will vote for GREED just for its historical value. Also, I've always wanted to see ICE STATION ZEBRA, so I guess I'll vote for that one, as well.

Perhaps KANSAS CITY BOMBER just for its camp value? Racquel Welch on roller skates, throwing elbows, getting into cat fights?? What's not to like?

Wait a sec - you mean we're NOT voting for the Richard Chamberlain/Sharon Stone version from the 1985?!? What the hell!

I voted for the following:

All Fall Down
Ivanhoe
King Solomon's Mines
The Letter
The Search

I'm sure "Ivanhoe" will make the final cut; I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope at least one or two of the other classics show up.
BTW, does anyone know if some of the releases not chosen during the first "DVD Decision" will be released anytime soon. I'm specifically looking for "Bad Day at Black Rock" and "Somebody Up There Likes Me." I'm assuming these titles would be on the list if an upcoming release wasn't pending.

I don't remember the full list from last year, but I know Bad Day at Black Rock was one of the titles I wanted to see released the most. It is still not out, or even in production as far as I know.

As for this year's list - there are only two must-haves for me:

Greed and I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang

Well, right after I posted that, I decided to Google for the whole list from last year:

The Actress, After the Thin Man, Another Thin Man, The Asphalt Jungle, Bad Day at Black Rock, The Blackboard Jungle, Days of Wine and Roses, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Executive Suite, Finian's Rainbow, For Me and My Gal, The Good Earth, I'll Cry Tomorrow, Love Finds Andy Hardy, Night of the Iguana, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Somebody Up There Likes Me, Where the Boys Are, The Wind and the Lion and Ziegfeld Girl

Unfortunately, several of those are still unreleased.

I wish they'd release NIGHT OF THE IGUANA. I'd vote that over almost everything on this year's list. Damn shame that's not out yet.

I guess I was mistaken. Perhaps Warner is waiting for a special occasion to release some of these. Asphalt Jungle is part of Film Noir set, For Me and My Gal, Love Finds Andy Hardy, and Ziegfeld Girl were part of Judy Garland box set.
Perhaps they are waiting to do a Spencer Tracy Signature collection before releasing Bad Day At Black Rock and a Paul Newman set before releasing Somebody up There Likes Me.

I really really wish they had Jack Cardiff's DARK OF THE SUN or John Boorman's POINT BLANK on that list.

Dark of the Sun is never on tv and the darn video is impossible to find except at ridiculous prices. At least I was able to record Point Blank off of TCM a few days ago. Don't know why they don't show Dark of the Sun though.

msbailey,

Yep. Well, actually our first child isn't a rock but, well, hopefully you get the picture. Thanks for the update!
