Spiderman 2.5

Any updates?
It was reported as coming out the second half of 2005. We're starting to get October release dates, so I'm wondering if this 2.5 release is still targeted for this year.

I would say no, but could be wrong. Nothing has been mentioned so far.

I was thinking about this release the other day. So yeah, like you said, we're getting late into the year with late year release date announces and still no word on this release. Wasn't it due to be released earlier this year already? Quite frankly, I don't care if it never happens. There's really no need for it.

If thats just a typo, the new movie isnt coming out until 2007, so a release this far in advance doesnt make sense to me. While a release at the end of next year will get people excited about the new movie.
Isnt this the timetable the Spiderman Deluxe Edition took - released a couple months before the second movie?... as did the Xmen 1.5 DVD?

I wouldn't expect this much before the third film hits the theaters. It'll probably be released around the same time for the "synergy" effect. Releasing it now doesn't make much sense, from a marketing perspective.

I imagine there'll be a Spider-man 1/Spider-man 2.5/bonus disc bundle that will come out in May 2007 with a Spider-man 3 movie ticket inside. That's what Sony did just prior to the Spider-man 2 theatrical release.

Back in March or April, I was backstage for a show taping at the network for which I work, and the show was having John Dykstra as a guest. As he chatted with one of the producers before the show, he mentioned that he was working on this 2.5 release, and that there would be a few new shots. So it will happen...but it also seems more likely to be prepared now and released closer to Spider-Man 3 (that's my conjecture, at least).

You couldn't very well include a ticket to X3, since it's being released by Fox and the Spider-Man movies are released by Sony. I have no idea what studio Ghost Rider is at.

Hopefully Spidey 2.5 won't see the light of day. What a waste.

It'll come either in '07 with part 3 or to tie in or mooch off another MARVEL MOVIE (ie X-men 3 or Ghost Rider in '06)...
Before the SE/SUPERBIT editons were released they said they would ultimately do a 2.5 which is why I only purchased the superbit, knowing any extras from the 2-disc SE would probably be in the 2.5 (either an entire new set or the same crap where they added another disc to the SE of part 1).

X-Men 3 is Fox. Spidey 3 is Sony. So no free ticket in that regard. The free X3 ticket will probably be in the FF 2-Discer (also Fox) or the rumored X2.5 DVD.
More than likely, Spidey 2.5 will pop up a few months before Spidey 3 opens (with a free ticket for THAT movie).

Get the superbit. MUCH better PQ. As a matter of fact, I feel that the standard DVD's PQ is Below average. The conspiracy rumors abounded that they doinked the transfer a bit to clearly show how much better the SUPERBIT version looks.

I just looked it up, GHOST RIDER is coming next Spring and its a SONY film. So I would bet that we may get a Spider-Man 2.5 + a free movie ticket to see the show. Otherwise we probably will have to wait for the 3rd Spider-Man.
---------
side note:
I remember a GhostRider cartoon from the '90s that aired along with the HULK cartoon. The movie would be a good time to release that cartoon on dvd. As well all the other MARVEL 'toons with their respective films (X-MEN TAS and SPIDER-MAN TAS, my personal favs, alone w/ HULK and IRON MAN).

The A/V quality on the SPIDER-MAN 2 SE, while not as good as the Superbit, isn't as bad as some rather hysterical people have made it out to be. And unlike the first SPIDER-MAN disc, this one actually has some great extras. But if you don't care about extras, you've got the superior Superbit, which has to dump all extras anyway in order to fully earn its marketed brand name (which it hasn't always done.)
And I agree with others, 2.5 will probably come out just in time to hype SPIDER-MAN 3.

Oh, so you actually watched something this time before trashing it? Fair enough. As I said, I agree with you that the A/V quality on the SE is nowhere near as good as the Superbit but I don't think it's unwatchable either. It seems to me that each of the SPIDER-MAN 2 releases serve its intended purpose.
