Article also mentions that Criterion is preparing a "DVD of George Franju’s LES YEUX SANS VISAGE (EYES WITHOUT A FACE)."
No release date for that one yet.

"Fear on Film, a half-hour roundtable discussion from 1982 between Cronenberg, John Carpenter and John Landis (all of whom were working on Universal horror films at the time), hosted by director-to-be Mick Garris"
"Samurai Dreams—the fake Japanese soft-porn film seen in the movie, presented in its entirety"
Holy crap... sold!

Wooohooo!!!
So glad I never picked up the current dvd, despite being so tempting.
This is completey unexpected news to me,a total surprise. Wow,now I have something to really look forward to later this year. This will be mine on release day...+ with the other great genre titles being released. It will be quite a squeeze on my wallet, but oh well.
Now the only thing that could possible make this fall more expensive,is if Paramount actually comes through on the Friday the 13th box set with 'some' uncut versions. Yet that is highly unlikely,so that set will be put on hold for no specified amount of time.
I know where my $$$ will be going this fall...and its not Paramount, that is for sure

I can't even count the number of times I've had the current version of this DVD in my cart, only to remove it just before checkout...I guess it was fate.
This is a MUST own.
• Audio commentary by stars James Woods and Deborah Harry is reason enough for me to drool over this release.

Wow. Absolutely great news, a favorite of mine. For some unknown reason I kept putting of the current release and I am damn glad I did.
Long live the new flesh!

Videodrome is a love/hate for me. There's a lot of amazing stuff in it but it's also a confusing and unpleasent film.
Though, I could see getting the Criterion.
