maybe for the Euro cut disc we'll have Zombi artwork !!!

Too Cool......Anchor Bay, you RULE!

Leechboy 06-15-04 11:41 PM

Does anyone have any idea what kind of packaging it will come in? Is there any way to convince Anchor Bay to NOT make it a digipak?

Camp Blood 06-16-04 03:21 AM

I hope they use something similar to the three's company season 2 set. It's a digipack with the plastic disc holders on top of each other. So you just open it like pages in a book. Not like the friends sets or the robocop trilogy. I'm sick of having to take 5 minutes to open up all the layers of a digipack just to get to the disc I want. Regardless of the package, I'll be there on sep 7th picking this set up. Whooo!

It's going to be an expensive day, dawn, clerks X and star trek:generations CE all on the same day!

The official website for the release is up now.

This looks great. Can't wait to see how they package it!

Ah, forget it. :-S

What did you want? A collectible insert that gives you a BJ?

El-Kabong 06-22-04 07:03 PM

Mmmmmmm. . . . BJ. . . . .

No. The German disc is patched together from all versions (Theatrical, Cannes, Argento). There is nothing 'new' in it, and it looks like hell and has a German-only dub track besides.

What is the "European" edit?

Did Dario Argento just recut and rescore the original, or is "Zombi" something else entirely?

And how does it compare to the original?

As others have said, it's just a different edit of the film. I've seen both, and I think it's good, though I still prefer the theatrical cut overall. There are some notably cool shots that Argento chose to use and Romero didn't. That's why this set will rule.

Here's a fan site that goes into more detail about the different edits. Fair warning though, there's a bandwidth limit, so by the time you see this, it might be blocked:

OldBoy 06-25-04 06:46 PM

If I plan on getting this set...is there any need to keep the 2-disc Holland release that has the longer "Cannes Cut" and the "Dario Argento" cut?? Please let me know or else I will eBay it. Thanks.

Nope, no need to keep it. The set has all that, and the picture quality will be better. Ebay on!

I'm keeping mine, because I'm a geek. And proud. Very proud.

Why keep it then? geek or not?

Nocturnaloner 06-25-04 09:30 PM

Just to be a completist about it, and have all the versions of DOTD that I can. And the cover is cool :)

xraybies 06-26-04 01:20 AM

It's available for pre-order at Laseredge for $34.99! That seems way too cheap for this set, does anyone know if they are a good site to buy from?

TomOpus 06-26-04 09:02 AM

Don't know about the site, but the price seems reasonable. The Indy Boxset cost $45 and that was for 3 different movies. This is 3 different cuts of the same movie.

OldBoy 06-26-04 09:28 AM

love the purple cover!

jough 06-27-04 09:58 PM

This has to be the most elaborate set for an exploitation movie EVER.

BRING IT ON! :D

ILSA 06-29-04 01:26 AM

The guys over at Creature Corner have a first look at the
packaging of the set.

The pic's a bit small but doesn't the whole thing look a lot like a velvet?
Totally bitchin', man!!

Tight!

steebo777 06-29-04 08:17 AM

Creature Corner also stated this after they posted it.

A Rotten Update: Anchor Bay's Mike Felsher dropped us a line regarding this pic...
"...there are pictures floating around out there of supposed Final Art for the DAWN ULTIMATE EDITION coming up this September. However, none of them are correct. We haven't finished our final art yet, and the images floating around out there in various forms do not reflect our final packaging. We'll hopefully have final art by the 4th of July."
More of the article here.

Bandit03 06-29-04 08:32 AM

Wow cant wait to see the final artwork for this, it could look amazing if they dont screw it up. The one above looks damn cool already.

ILSA 07-06-04 01:59 PM

Ok, AB has now put up the final artwork as well as some menu screenshots on their website:

Killer set! This is gonna rule supreme.
Can't wait.
