It would have been a HUGE shock for me if you did not buy this title

I think it's just another Image repackaging scheme. "Let's wrap a sleeve around a bunch of old discs that aren't selling and call it a set". I already own all 4 discs in the collection. They're pretty good quality and it's a good price, since I paid around $18 each for them, but I won't be double dipping on this one.

Courtesy of the TIMES:

"Argent Films have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Lady of the Night and Dirty Love II: The Love Games Intrigue for 11th July 2005 priced at £15.99 each. These two impressively provocative works of Italian erotica have both been re-edited to include previously censored footage never seen before in the UK. Bearing the hallmarks of the undisputed master of the genre, Tinto Brass, these two films go one step further than usual, introducing an element that borders on hardcore to a genre that traditionally appeals to audiences of both sexes.

Produced by regular Tinto Brass collaborator Giovanni Bertolucci (The Key; Miranda; P.O. Box Tinto Brass; Frivolous Lola) and starring the woman who was once voted the sexiest woman in Italy, Serena Grandi (star of Tinto Brass' Miranda), LADY OF THE NIGHT tells the story of a young woman's search for sexual fulfilment. Neglected by her work-obsessed husband Marco, Simona (Grandi) immerses herself in a dangerous world of random and increasingly risky sexual liaisons with strangers. Her infidelity eventually takes its toll on her marriage when Marco discovers Simona during one of her encounters and the pair separate. But when Simona is attacked one night by a mysterious masked man, she is forced to reconsider her seemingly sexually liberating decision.

DIRTY LOVE II: THE LOVE GAMES INTRIGUE stars Italian porn heroine Valentine Demy (star of Tinto Brass' Paprika and Snack Bar Budapest) and David D'Ingeo (Scarlet Diva; The Phantom Of The Opera). Alone and bored after inheriting a large but desolate villa from a wealthy client, Eva (Demy), the former queen of the local brothel amuses herself by picking up young men and installing them as her in-house lovers and regaling them with arousing tales from her days as a hooker. The young men are more than happy to share Eva's sexual attentions until she falls for an older businessman. Jealous of their more mature rival, Eva's young lovers plot to kill their seductive mistress.

Boasting the usual superb cinematography, high production values and voluptuous leading ladies that have placed Italian erotica in a league of its own, LADY OF THE NIGHT and DIRTY LOVE II: THE LOVE GAMES INTRIGUE are two classic examples of a genre that continues to garner critical and commercial success throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Features include widescreen presentation, scene selection and trailers."

I've been on a Joe D'Amato DVD viewing spree

including
- Emanuelle in America - which I enjoyed immensly - really lurid, the snuff scenes kind of reminded me of the ending of Salo (no audio)

- Images in a Convent - the DVDTalk review of the film is kind of harsh IMO, on a sidenote, the second disc of this DVD includes a 90 minute documentary on the erotic films of Joe D'Amato which is shown in a condensed 13min supplement on the Emanuelle in America DVD - definately worth checking out.

Now off to some video stores to see if they have
- Porno Holocaust
- Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals

In regards to the French hardcore version of 99 Women - those XXX shots are completely gratutitious and really deter from the movie. I can see why Jess Franco abhors that version.

I really enjoyed Venus in Furs.

The Beast in Heat - what a trip, not great, but the shear audacity of it really kind of gives the film a cheesy kind of fun appeal.

TLA has this up for pre-order (streeting 9/26)

The Tinto Brass Collection Volume II

Collecting the "Uncensored, Unrated Italian Versions" of three erotic comedies from Tinto Brass. Frivolous Lola is the story of one girl's amorous adventures in an idyllic country town in the late 1950s. Cheeky! follows a young Italian woman's journey to london for a course in English, which quickly turns into a full-immersion course in sex. And Private continues Tinto's series of erotic cinema, demonstrating that extramarital affairs and jealousy are not necessarily cause for conflict for divorce, but are, rather, ingrediants to heighten our love lives.

Tom:

SnackBar's UK disc is only so-so. I would wait for the NoShame anamorphic release! This new set of Fallo! etc....I have the Italian disc which is not subbed but great. I will have to see a good review indicating that they are not PAL-hacks before I add them to my collection.

Ciao,
