Homicide S5 announced

From http://www.tvshowsondvd.com:

A&E will release the 5th season of Homicide: Life on the Street on August 24th, the same day as Dr. Quinn: Season 4. We don't have any information on special features, but we expect that there will a commentary track, a featurette looking at season 5, song listings and cast/crew biographies. This date backs up the previous news we posted hinting at an August release for the set.

Once we get complete specs we'll post it on the site.

And don't forget, the street date for S4 is March 30.

to A&E for quick release schedule for this great series.

I agree - they are doing a great job with this series, because they cannot come out fast enough, IMO.

Havent even got series 4 yet
ahh more cahs for them to take from me, not that I mind as its just turning into the best series ever made, and we in UK had a lot of episodes taken from our TVs as there was some shooting and crap like that happened around the time of season 5 I think, at last I can see them.

bring them on, maybe some nice extras would be nice please.

Season 5 is where Pembleton
Spoiler:
has a stroke
, right?

Season 5 is also where the show kind of dips in quality - it's still great, just not as great as 1 - 4. Season 6 then dips in quality quite badly - it almost becomes like a soap opera. Season 7 is a little better than 6, but it didn't quite recover. (they are all worth owning, though).

I agree that it's also point where the show begins it's slow decline.

That show didn't decline one iota until season 7.

I'm putting the order for S4 into the mail on Friday.

I really hope they include the PBS documentary on the episode where Vincent Dinoffrio gets stuck under a train.

It was an hour long behind-the-scenes of that specific episode of Homicide and it followed it from inception, to writing, pre-production, filming, editing, and finally re-editing for censors and airing. It was a great documentary on what everyone goes through while making an episode of Homicide. Since it deals with a season 5 episode, it would make sense to include it in this set.

"The Subway" episode was from season 6, but it would be nice to have that documentary included when that season comes out.

Yeah you're right - I could have sworn Pembleton left after season 5, not 6. Which means the first half of season 7 sucks real bad, and the second half picks up a little.

The best damn show ever was never the same after the introduction of Falzone.

Which season did Robin Williams do his guest appearance?

Robin Williams appeared in "Bop Gun" from Season 2. The episode also had a young Jake Gyllenhaal (not coincidentally, the episode was directed by his dad)

From www.tvshowsondvd.com:

In September we first brought you news that Homicide: Life on the Street - The Complete Season 6 was coming to DVD on January 25th. This 6-DVD set lists for $99.95 (but can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com for $69.96). It runs over 18 hours. Here's the synopsis, extras, and cover art:

Day to day, the officers of the Baltimore Police Department Homicide Division face one of the nation's worst crime rates--not to mention the pressures of their personal lives. Some days, justice isn't blind--it flat-out doesn't exist.

Edgy and hyper-realistic, Homicide: Life on the Street elevated the art of the police drama to new heights. Shot on location with in-your-face camera action, deft writing, and a stellar ensemble cast, this first-time-on-DVD collection features all 23 episodes from the 6th Season of the Emmy and Peabody award-winning series, highlighted by the celebrated "The Subway" episode.

From the creator of Gideon's Crossing and Quiz Show (Paul Attanasio) and Executive Produced by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Diner) and Tom Fontana (OZ, St. Elsewhere), the sixth complete season of Homicide: Life on the Street is one of television's toughest and sharpest shows.

Watch the episodes in the order intended by the series' producers!

DVD Features Include:
Feature-Length Documentary: "Anatomy of a Homicide"
Commentary with Writer James Yoshimura and Director Gary Fleder on "The Subway"
Cast and Crew Biographies
