Schindler's List Single Disc?

The bad news is according to the Home Theater Forum's review, the disc is a flipper (no 2-disc set). The good news is that the video/audio is top-notch.

My pre-order is for the 2-disc set. In distributor catalogs it's listed five times - WS 1 and 2 discs, FS 1 and 2 discs, and the boxed set. The order numbers are usually the UPC, but for the disc differences the numbers are the same but there's an extra digit - a 1 or 2 - on the end.
Now, whether or not there is actually a difference and isn't just an error based on the two conflicting press releases (or Universal is just hedging their bets) remains to be seen.
I'm really *hoping* for a 2-disc - I hate those flippers.

There is a review up on HTF. It's a single disc, DVD-18, with the part of the movie on side 2 and the documentary on Side 2 as well. Bad news about the flipper, but the review does state that the print of the film is pristine. So that's certainly good news.

Well practically all of the Fox Studio Classics are flippers also and they did a fantastic job with them. I don't care for flippers either, but if it means a lower price, then I'm all for it.

Why this couldn't have been a 2-disc set is beyond me. I hate flippers. Not the fact that the movie is split (but of course it would be better if it's all on one disc), but because there's no disc art. Having data on both sides of the disc is very dangerous, if you're not careful.

There is no good reason for Schindler's List to have a DTS track and four audio tracks. Being in black and white, this probably could have fit on one side. Then, the extras could have been on the back or a second disc.
But, at least the audio and video is quite good (according to the HTF review anyway). It doesn't sound like any misframing or defective issues --- or other typical Universal Fu*k-ups.

I'm OK with it IF all the movie is on one side and extras on the other. All the studio classic discs I have don't split the movie. This one does. If it splits at an intermission it might be OK. It has been a long time. I really don't recall if there is an intermission. Hopefully, some review will address this split more fully.

In my opinion, if you are going to have flip, you should maximize picture and audio quality rather than making the flip at "intermission" (which is what they did with SL).

I must've missed all the talk about this - i thought it was a 2-disc set. Shame if it's a flipper - I won't be buying it.
The only good flippers are the ones with a FS version on the other side. That way, I don't have to worry so much about keeping both sides completely free of scuffs. I can just put the FS side down, since I'd never watch it anyway. I treat the FS side like it was a label

FYI...i know the R3 version will be 2 discs. I wonder if another region will have the movie all on one disc and NOT have so many sound options.

DVD-18 for me all the way. No more 2 disc sets, please. I'm sick of it.

why not have a DTS track...
For a nearly three and 20 minute movie, I don't have as much of a problem with it being a flipper. But, still.

DTS tracks are a norm on Spielberg titles (unless it's made by Warner or Lucasfilm). Besides, he is the prime spokesperson for DTS.

It was never only available as a flipper - all rentail outlets had the 2-disc since the film came out. Try renting it at Netflix - you have to rent TWO discs instead of just one.
Try Blockbuster or Hollywood Video for previously-viewed (i.e. used) discs, since they all had it on two discs too, and often have nice keepcase inserts for when they sell the discs pre-viewed.
As far as buying it new at retail, however, it seems that the new packaging is just the old flipper disc in a keepcase. Disappointing.
