As for the DJANGO DVD, I too will be double dipping. My hard earned cash will go to BU, for they are a very small outfit, and can use a support, plus I am sure this 8 minute short is worth every dollar.

As for the ZOMBIE cover, I prefer the BU version over the lame SS version. I do not care about extra, I care about sound, quality, uncut, etc, and I am sure BU will blow SS's version with this.

Plus I am willing to bet the farm that BU will prove everyone wrong by releasing their ZOMBIE DVD will more "cool" stuff than SS's. Remember, more extra, doesn't always mean better. I'll bet there will be tons of easter egg's on BUs!

I finally got my Django discs, and they did come with inserts... but not the original inserts with the essays. Just a catalogue of BU releases... when I saw through the clear case I got excited, but it's not a huge deal for me. Just glad to finally get the discs ;)

Since they will both be using the same transfer, I can't see how Blue Underground's release will be any different from Media Blasters as far as video quality. Also, it has been stated publicly by Don May of Media Blasters that Blue Underground's version would be barebones, so, I would not expect any extras other than a trailer.

I watched The Last Pistolero yesterday. It actually times out at ten minutes long rather than eight, as had previously been mentioned. To be honest, I can't recommend that anyone but a collector double dip on this one. While I enjoyed the short, I doubt that most people would think it worth a double dip. I was also disappointed that the insert from the original Blue Underground release was not included.

Don May Jr. is with Synapse, not Media Blasters...

John Sirabella of Media Blasters stated that Sriek Show and Blue Underground will use the same transfer, but SS disc will go out of print in a couple of years for BU to release definitive version. BU will be able to use extras from SS.

flashburn 05-05-04 06:53 AM

So are their release dates for "Conquest" and "Zombi 2" yet?

Thank you for the correction. I stupidly confused the two. It was in fact John Sirabella who stated this.

Mondo Digital has them listed for release on 27 July, and they are usually accurate when they actually put a specific date down. 29 June is the release date for Deathdream and Uncle Sam. That is confirmed by Blue Underground. Mondo Digital also lists 31 August as the release date for Night Train Murders, The Killer Nun, and Mark Of The Devil.

is the media blaster's version (2-disc) going to be release the same day as BU's Zombie 2 (July 27)?

thanx

According to Mondo Digital, yes, both versions are coming out on 27 July.

I wish we would see dates for Giallo Collection 2 and Blind Dead Collection. Has anyone seen updates on these two items?

well under that assumption, I will have bought this film on video four times, Anchor Bay laserdisc, Anchor Bay DVD, Shriek Show DVD, and (future) Blue Underground Special Edition - (the head spins)

I have the Anchor Bay DVD and will purchase both the Blue Underground and Media Blasters releases in July. I will, of course, also buy the Blue Underground SE when it comes out.

I am excited about the commentaries on Deathdream. That release is loaded for such a low price.

Per this generally reliable website:

http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/disconti.htm

BABA YAGA and DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS are going out of print?! What's that about? The BU website has no info about this. Guess I should scoop up BABA while I have the chance...

On a side note, the link also says that AB is discontinuing their Hammer 2-fers. Remember that dispute a while back over whether or not BU had rights to these, which AB vigorously denied? Perhaps we'll see BU releases after all...

There is no dispute. When AB's licenses to these films expire, they will revert to Bill Lustig.

I was not aware that these were going out of print. Perhaps they are going to be rereleased in the new transparant keep cases. I really don't know.

I am curious to know what others would expect from Blue Underground Hammer releases. Personally, I would love to see in depth interviews with Christopher Lee.
