I am all too curious with Conquest. I thought the trailer looked interesting and fun, and dvdtalk's review is getting me to likely blind buy it. Can anyone stir me in either direction to buy or not?
Yes, I love the films BU is releasing, so judge me accordingly....

I love BU too and I'm a dedicated fan to what they put out. I feel the same way for Fulci. it's just a completist thing.

this film sucks:lol:. I love Lucio and all.....but the "turd" line below says it best. from DVD Drive-In:

Sure, CONQUEST is one of the most terminally boring Eurocult outings you're likely to sit through, but Blue Underground has decided to add it to their illustrious catalog. Don't ask me why, perhaps it's just because the maestro's name is attached, but the transfer reiterates the analogy that you can't polish a turd. The film's original photography was apparently shot through gauze, with incredibly soft detail and barrels of grain. And the letterboxed transfer reflects just that: a soft, grainy, impenetrably foggy fantasy. The 2.0 audio mix does a good job with the boring Claudio Simonetti soundtrack, but dialogue is often tough to decipher.

 I still love it....it just may grow dust a little faster than my other dvds.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll rent it.
Thanks gutwrencher.

I just ordered "Justine" and "Eugenie" today. Yes, I was feeling dirty. I've had always heard great things about Blue Underground but didn't actually pick one up until "Zombie". I checked out their website and plan to order lots more of them in the future. :)

If you're REALLY feeling dirty, you must get Emanuelle in America. :D

I've heard about that. Will I need about five showers after watching it?

You seem to have a lot of BU releases, what are some good ones?

I'll intrude and offer up my BU folder, which you will find below. I collect them all(except the Cohen collection which I already have the individual titles) and the western titles which are located in the Western folder. of course...when Killer Nun gets here...it'll get popped into the nunsploitaion folder.

my BU faves:

Baba Yaga
Django
The Prowler
Mondo Cane Collection
Toolbox Murders
Vampyres

Bad news from BU themselves.

Alan Clarke Collection cover and info.

Hey, I just ordered Conquest and Two Evil Eyes today! Don't worry, I'm well aware of how ridiculous Conquest is supposed to be, but at $11.98 I couldn't resist. Is the Two Evil Eyes LE going out of print soon?

Here's an interview with Bill Lustig, where he goes into detail about his relationship with Anchor Bay, and why he started Blue Underground: http://www.horrorchannel.com/modules...rder=0&thold=0

He mentions that they're working on "Mark of the Devil," and is currently trying to scrounge up unrated elements for "Night of the Seagulls" for the upcoming "Blind Dead" boxed set.

Where'd the Giallo box go?

I loved the description (too bad I'd just bought a dubious Video Search of Miami copy of "Death Laid an Egg") and have been watching the site for it but it seems to have gone away. Another distributor took it? WTF?
Another Blue Underground fan,

Another Blue Underground fan,

The Giallo Vol. 2 box hasn't gone anywhere. It is being prepped for next year. Death Laid an Egg, however, will not be a part of it (so hold onto your VSoM tape).

I watched Conquest. My god.

Good fun, though. :)

Another Blue Underground fan,

aside from the price....I wonder whats wrong with THIS dvd of DLAE? I've been thinking about picking it up but have yet to do any research on it.

Der Zorn Gottes 08-31-04 04:59 PM

Has anyone recieved their copy of The Alan Clarke Collection yet? My pre-order is taking a bit long to ship.

By far my most wanted disc this year.

It's expensive, non-anamorphic, and has no English subtitles for the Italian track.

I guess I'd grab it anyway......if it was maybe 14.99. -wink-

Norm de Plume 08-31-04 10:55 PM

Death Laid an Egg=Questi laid a rotten egg.

Giallo 2: I asked this on page a-long-time-ago; will some of the films be released individually as with the first bunch? I want Fifth Cord but none of the others. I sure as shit won't spend $60 for one movie.

For further punishment, why not go for BU's release of H.G. Wells' The Shape of Things to Come ? (Minus the "fun", though).;)

Well since it is a BU title, maybe you can find a new BU fan to trade with? The film does stink big time though.

Huh - you and me seem to be the only people who're interested in this one! I started a thread in another forum and it was roundly ignored.

My copy shipped from DDD on Monday. I saw the set in-store today at Newbury Comics (New England small chain). I thought the set might be keepcases in a slip, but it seems to be a fold-out design.
