Fargo: SE Ch. 26 Glitch!!!

I've tried this in 5 different players and it keeps coming up. As soon as Ch. 26 comes up the disc freezes and after a couple seconds it jumps to another random scene.

So I brought the first disc back and exchanged it for another... And sure enough, same s//t. It locks up at 26. It's only 26 though all the other chapters before and after it work fine.

Anyone else had this problem? I did a search but didn't find anything...

I haven't tried it yet. What kind of player do you have?

Sony DVD Player - DVP-NS300
Sony DVD Recorder - RDR-G7
Sony Laptop w/built-in DVD Burner - PCG-FRV27
10" Samsung Portable DVD Player (don't have model #)
Samsung 25" TV/DVD/VCR Combo (don't have model #)

Tested on all of them. All had the same results...

I had a problem with a couple Fargo discs before getting a good one. My first copy froze towards the end of the Minnesota Nice documentary. I then got a second copy, and it froze at the 1:13:20 mark ( don't remember exact chapter, but it as around 27 or 28).

The third one I got seems OK. These errors happened consistently on a Philips 793C, Pioneer DV-563, my DVD-ROM and the store's player that they used to test it.

Sounds like some of them may have had a problem with the second layer. I've seen other reports on HTF as well.

If you've bought the disc and haven't watched it yet, I'd recommend doing so soon, or at least fast forward through the disc. I was able to expose both errors by just fast forwarding.

I watched it the other night and didn't notice any problems at all (on a low-end Sony player)

Although I will say that the trivia track is ridiculously intrusive....what's wrong with subtitled text? Why the giant colored boxes?

I had no problems watching it on my old ass Panasonic player, and that thing is usually a piece of crap. It doesn't even read half of my dvds anymore.

I am amazed that so many of these movies that have threads written about how they have problems with this or that always seem to play in my ultra-low-end Sony PS2; while everyone else's top-shelf fancy-schmancy DVD players have trouble with one disc after another.

Chapter 26 in "Fargo SE" played with no problems at all. I will always love Frances McDormand's performance in this film till the day I die. What an original character. The Academy really got it right when they gave her the Best Actress Oscar for this.

I guess 3rd times a charm... Did another exchange and so far I've tried 2 out of the 5 players and they both have worked.

I think we have a winner. Thanks for the responses guys.

I checked out these various problem spots on my copy (on both sides, no less) and everything went swimmingly. RCA player.

YES!!!

I just watched the DVD, and on Chapter 29, i get really bad pixelation and it freezes, on through Chapter 31-32.

argh!!!!

My player is a high-end Panasonic, model RP-91.

It plays fine on my portable Panasonic player (original model - L50).

I'm going to write to MGM and complain... this is ridiculous....

(btw, thank you for posting this!)

That's exactly what I tink. I went through 3 copies until I got one that actually played through the same spot the OP was having problems with.

No problems on my Panasonic DVD-F85K. Thanks for the heads-up though, I was getting scared!
