Romancing the Stone SE ?

One of my favourite 80s flicks. Unfortunately, the DVD is lacking in a NUMBER of areas.

Any news of a SE on the horizon..?

Unfortunately, no. But it would make sense to re-release this as a special edition since Zemeckis has been revisiting his older work lately. I would get it if it is anamorphic widescreen with DD5.1 and a Zemeckis commentary. I'm not sure if there are any making-of featurettes out there. A retrospective featurette would be nice. This movie is important since it put Zemeckis on the map along with Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. This is a 20th Century Fox movie and although they have been pretty good with reissues, I haven't heard anything on this.

Wasn't there a report at one point for 2004?

I watched some of this on AMC last night - indeed a great flick (I forgot how funny it was). I'd love to see an SE of this one released.

Yes, JimRochester, Fox did mention that they plan on revisiting it in '04. I can't wait!

Also watched this on AMC last night. Great movie.
Still waiting on an anamorphic transfer before paying money for it.

I prefer anamorphic as well, but the real problem with this disc is the crappy sound. Very TV sounding if that makes sense.

I would buy one if they would do it. Now with news of a third film being done later this year, maybe they will go back and redo them?

I sold my copy last year thinking that there would definitely be a 20th Anniversary Edition released sometime during 2004. I was wrong. The current dvd looks like crap on my widescreen tv so I am not that upset I got rid of it. Heres to hoping for a SE in 2005 with an Anamorphic Widecreen Presentation.
