Review of French set:

also note:
Fantasia: France has a 2 disc set of Fantasia (as well as the Anthology and a single disc release) It's likely this will be what the Platinum Edition in the US will be like (why bother you ask? Because it's cheaper):

any indication on which titles will be pushed up or added to the new 2-release-a-year schedule? is everything that's already scheduled going to be pushed up and the new titles tacked on to the end of the cycle or are new titles going to be integrated into the exsting schedule?
really not sure about picking up sleeping beauty in sept. or to wait....it's my favorite disney and to wait longer while there's a release on the shelves would be miserable.
(i hate to double dipp, especially for disney!)

This is an educated guess..
The IMAX releases are still going to hold the October spots.. so expect Aladdin and Little Mermaid in 2004 and 2005 October. The best thing to do at that point would be to release the titles that have NEVER been on DVD in the March spots, and the winners are: Bambi and Cinderella!! After that is pretty cloudy.

But do we know the year The Jungle Book will be released? That's the one I'm heavily anticipating - I skipped on the Limited Edition because I already had the video tape, but a DVD with EXTRAS would be priceless. My absolute favorite - I had a record album (with voices and everything - it was better than a soundtrack; more like Movies on Record) that I listened to as a kid, long before I had ever seen the movie.

This is all good news. Maybe they are ready to announce Song of the South as a Treasure release now.

Excellent news! All the Platinums by 2007, with the added bonus of a few more titles to take my $$$, I'm so there.
Seriously, great to hear. The one title a year was slow as molasses, so this is a welcome change from Disney.

Do we know for sure that it is getting rereleased? I have seen some articles that said it was one of the titles to be rereleased, and others that do not mentioned it at all.

UltimateDisney.com is reporting that Lady and The Tramp is planned for release in March and Little Mermaid in October of 2006.
Here is the tiny cover artwork for Lady and The Tramp.
UD also has some exciting and reliable news but from a source which prefers to remain uncredited. As most readers already know, Lady and the Tramp and The Little Mermaid are planned for release as 2-disc Platinum Edition DVDs next year in March and October, respectively. Those are set in stone and we have a first (tiny) glimpse of potential Lady and the Tramp cover art today here.

For those of you that don't have all of this info. (I have a 15-month old daughter, so I'm much more "in tune" with Disney releases than I ever was prior to her being born), here's the most up-to-date rundown that I have (much of this compiled from ultimatedisney.com and other Disney-centered sites):
NOTE: Some of these 1-disc and 2-disc SEs are now OOP or "in the vault."
Platinum titles:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (#1 in series)
Beauty and the Beast (#2)
Lion King (#3)
Aladdin (#4)
Bambi (#5)
Cinderella (#6 due October 4, 2005)
Lady and the Tramp (#7 due March 2006)
Little Mermaid (#8 due October 2006)
Jungle Book (#9 due March 2007)
101 Dalmatians (#10 due October 2007)
Pinocchio (Added to Platinum series?)
Peter Pan (Added to Platinum series?)
Fantasia (Added to Platinum series? Currently part of OOP Anthology box set)
Sleeping Beauty (Added to Platinum series? A 2-disc SE has already been released)
2-disc Special Edition or Masterpiece titles (Essentially identical to Platinum series):
Sleeping Beauty
Alice in Wonderland
Mulan
Pocahontas
Dumbo (Rumored 2-disc SE title?)
Lilo and Stitch (Rumored 2-disc SE title?)
Tarzan (Also available as an OOP 2-disc set - SE rumored for Oct. 18, 2005?)
Fans have also been asking for 2-disc SEs of the following 1-disc titles:
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules
Robin Hood
Fox and the Hound
Emperor's New Groove (Currently available as a somewhat difficult-to-find 2-disc set)
Pixar SE re-releases:
Toy Story SE (September 6, 2005. Currently part of OOP Toy Box)
Toy Story 2 SE (December 26, 2005. Currently part of OOP Toy Box)

Aside from the Batman Movies and Star Wars, my Disney movies are the only VHS tapes that I still have to replace so I hope they come out with SE of all the movies. I have not bought any 1 disc Disney DVD non special editions and try to get them all as they come out.

Lady and the Tramp/Little Mermaid
Two must buys for me as I have been waiting to replace my limited edition versions for quite some time now.
