I wish this would come out soon... they could do a reunion SE like Goonies did.
** Whoa, I just read up on this film at IMDB and the kid who was Horace died in 97?! Guess he cant make it to the reunion... how sad. Doesnt say what happened though.

Fred Dekker was online a few months back with a buddy of mine(yeah, I ave his AIM, who wants to touch me), and said he'd love to revisit The Monster Squad, but it's up to the studio at this point.

I haven't heard any updates, but a new transfer has been done at some point in the not-too-distant past -- it's airing this month in high-definition on Voom's Monsters-HD. Dunno if it's in OAR or not. Voom has said their new transfers from here on out would be OAR (previously, everything was cropped to 1.78:1), but I don't know when the transfer for The Monster Squad was done.

things don't look very good when nobody can give a clear answer as to which studio has the rights to the film, let alone if theres gonna be a DVD of it.....this is one of my last remaining wants for dvd...........and it still looks like I'll be wanting for years to come.

I actually wrote an article about Monster Squad not yet being on DVD a while back.
Basically, I think it's going to be a while before we finally see it on DVD. I emailed back and forth with Andre Gower not too long ago and, though he and Fred Dekker are hopeful it will be released, it doesn't seem likely in the near future.
If i find out anything more, I will be sure to post it, but as of right now, it may be a long time. So sad...What a great flick that deserves to be on DVD soon.

I suspect Sony, for it was on Encore/Starz earlier this year, and they have a exclusive deal with Sony on airing thheir older library titles, so I am gonna bet it will be Sony. So I DOUBT Blue Underground can touch this.

Five years from now you'll likely see a bare bones full screen release dvd,the royal class treatment nonetheless, a pat on the back and a fat cat's job well done. pfft
