Why on Earth do they go through the trouble of redoing the cases and not make the spines the same?

Those new 24 cases disappoint me, they are still much smaller then the original boxsets but still are double thick, I doubt I will re-buy them now

That's because they are seven-disc sets. I can't really see how they'd fit seven discs into a case the size of 24: Season 7; that would be quite impressive. Although those repacks do look pretty sweet, what bugs me is that the spines don't match. Season 7 now looks really strange when sitting next to the other seasons (although I'm glad they re-did Season 5's spine, since that was the one that previously didn't match).

$15 x 6 = $90. For slightly smaller cases? Pass. They would have to be like $10 each for me to even consider it (S7 is already 'small' and I have S8 on Blu-ray).

Lol, I'd love to know where you found Season 8 on Blu-ray a month before the seasons even started on tv :P

Re: Fox TV gets smaller

I've been holding off on picking up 24 on DVD mostly because of the giant cases. Saw these new ones in Target today and they look MUCH nicer. I'm going to have to pick them up at some point.

I did not realize that S7 was only six-discs, I have not watched my copy yet. I guess if I could find them for $10 I probably would still buy the sets just for the packaging, but otherwise they don't seem all that much thinner then the current release in stores (which was already a re-release to replace the humongous fold-out packaging that I currently own).

It came out last month on Blu-ray:

Season 9 has also been airing on TV since December.

Ohhh, totally thought you were talking about 24. Would've been nice if you had said scrubs somewhere in your post :P

I hate to keep bringing this up but anyone know the official name for these? I still want to buy a bunch of blank ones since my packaging is all jacked up.

Re: Fox TV gets smaller

In case anyone is on the lookout for some of these slimmed down versions, I saw volumes 1 - 3 of American Dad at my local Wal-Mart last night for $12.00 each (along with other Fox TV DVDs like Reba - which wasn't repackaged). I may go back this weekend and pick it up.

Also at my local Target they had ONE copy of the repackaged version of Family Guy Volume 3, the other countless number of copies they had were pressed with the original packaging.

Re: Fox TV gets smaller

I got the first season of Desperate Housewives in the new slim case as a gift, and picked up the other seasons at the Disney Club and they are in the original cases.

Season 2 has a booklet with episode descriptions in it. Does the slim version of it keep this booklet?

Also, since I only have the slim version of Season 1, and there is not booklet or episode descriptions to be found, can anybody tell me if the original packaging of Season 1 had either a booklet or episode descriptions somewhere in the packaging?

Desperate Housewives is not a Fox DVD, but it was repackaged. Buena Vista is doing this with quite a few of their bulkier TV on DVD sets. To answer your question, yes, the original bulky packaging comes with an episode guide booklet. It's weird that it's not included with the new repackage, since it's not bigger or thicker than the average insert that comes with normal DVDs.

I plan on buying the original packaging to the sets released by BVHE. The packaging on some of them are so unique and some of the artwork is just so great. I own season 2 of DH on DVD, and looking at the artwork printed on the panels (behind the trays), I can't imagine what artwork they left out in the repackage.

I also want the original packaging because I will want to buy the seasons as they come out, and I like all the boxes to match. I'd like to buy season 4 and season 5 on DVD as soon as I finish season 3, and seasons 4 and 5 have not yet been repackaged, and I don't feel like waiting until they eventually are.

Future seasons will likely come in the newer packaging though, so chances are your boxes will not match.

Found Bones Season 1 in new, slimmer packaging. Season 2 and 3 were still 'big'.

It was in DVD style case (clear). There are no slim cases or outer box.

Yeah I understand that, did you notice if there were 4 or 6 discs?
