Scream: Worst DVD Art EVER!!!!!!!
This Halloween I decided to have a horror movie marathon with a few friends and one of the movies I chose to watch was one of my faves Scream. Then after I watched the movie I looked at the case and realized it is the worst and most inaccurate artwork I've ever seen.
Here are my reasons why:
-Skeet Ulrich has a beard which is not present in the movie
-Drew Barrymore is featured on the cover and in the cast list up top when actors such as Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy isn't who played much bigger roles (definately to cash-in on her fame)
-The covered mouth on the back of the art is bland and lame
-The 5 actors take up most of the Art plus look nothing like they do in the actual movie (4-5 years older looking).
And to make sure of no confusion I am referring to the Widescreen Digitally Mastered Version R1 version of the movie.
Seriously with Scream 4 upcoming the only real thing that could come out of it good is better DVD releases of the original 3. Maybe like a 2 Disc with actual features other than trailer, chapter selection, etc. And hopefully will come with a more imaginative cover art.

Big deal. Look through all 49 pages of this thread before calling Scream "Worst DVD Art EVER!!!!!!!". Using more than six exclamation points in a fucking thread title should be grounds for suspension.

Putting Barrymore on the cover like that was purely intentional and designed to mislead the viewer. By having a "star" featured so prominently on the poster art/dvd cover will make the viewer think that person will probably make it through the film alive. When this character eventually dies in the first 5 minutes it means anything can happen.. the rules have been broken. which is really what the whole film is about anyway. breaking those rules and conventions. it's why the movie worked so well.

True, I always wondered why they did this.
-Drew Barrymore is featured on the cover and in the cast list up top when actors such as Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy isn't who played much bigger roles (definately to cash-in on her fame)
Cashing in on her fame with the "shocking" aspect of her role
was the point.
-The covered mouth on the back of the art is bland and lame
That was the original movie poster, I think it's more your opinion
of this being a bad cover, rather than a really bad cover.
-The 5 actors take up most of the Art plus look nothing like they do in the actual movie (4-5 years older looking).
How are the 4-5 years older looking? This cover was used in mid 1997
for the original vhs rental release. If anything the actors are 6 months older
than when filming was done.
