Saw - Uncut...Best. Packaging. Ever.

I saw Saw in theaters and wasn't that impressed, but I just got ahold of one of the new Saw Uncut editions and holy crap, is it sweet.

It's in a jewel case, which is weird...but it's filled with flowing blood and a little saw, which floats around inside. So sweet.

the only thing that wasn't impressive about Saw in my mind was the bad casting decision of Cary Elwes. Still gonna buy it though.

Why are you buying movies that you didn't really like?

because Netflix doesn't rent out double dip titles or most b&m video stores for that matter - I'll probably just watch it the extras, listen to the commentaries and then just trade it in for some instore credit at CD Game exchange.

Slayer did something like that 15 years ago with a limited version of their Seasons in the Abyss CD:

the new DVD is in a 2-Disc Jewel Case? without a full DVD case surrounding it or something? i haven't read that in any review...odd. but, i also thought the original "Saw" DVD had some cool packaging, but a jewel case???

I didn't buy it, I got ahold of one because we got them in at work a week early.

Yeah, it's a two disc jewel case, apparently. Unfortunately, I don't have pics. I'm usually not impressed by packaging and absolutely abhor slipcases that are the same as the DVD cover, but this packaging is really awesome.

And sorry, since I can't take it out of the store, I don't have pics to show.

so it will fit oddly with all other DVD's? that is just nonsensical.

Is this two-disc jewel case supposed to be some kind of variant in the packaging for this release? Because the pic on dvdempire shows what looks to be a transparent dvd keep case with room in the front cover for the floating blobs of blood and the mini circular saw blade. Or did they just up and change the packaging format last minute?

Is the extra scenes just talking or actual gore?

It seems to be a dvd sized plastic jewel case. Hinged on the side but clear throughout. The blood effect and the little saw are pretty cool and are on the "door" of the case, but only a real low price will get me to pick it up. Not the movie ticket it comes with , or the box.... low price.

(Never seen the movie)

what exactly is a "dvd sized plastic jewel case"? that seems like an oxymoron.

take a dvd case ... make it hard plastic and clear like a cd case.
Pretty much like that (only going off my quick look/pickup while at work)

Some music DVDs come in jewel cases... Pixies, Belle & Sebastian, Sneaker Pimps. I'm assuming that type of case is what's meant by "DVD-sized jewelcase."

Actually, it's thinner than a DVD case.

It's about the width of one of the older jewel cases, or a DVD Audio case.

Unfortunately, since I didn't buy it, I can't take pics.

this sounds like the case that Platinum uses/used with their discs.

edit: is it something similar to this?

Gimmick was used on the VHS box for Rutger Hauer's "Bleeders" as well.
