Has anyone seen a case like this?
I just recently started buying DVDs, so I don't know how common this type of case is... but I can't imagine that it is very popular amongst DVD buyers.
I bought the "NBA 25 Years of Champions" DVD set recently, and it folds out into a bunch of panels like some other DVD sets do. The set contains 5 discs, and the case folds out into 5 panels, but they didn't put one disc onto each panel. Instead, two of the panels contain 2 overlapping discs, one panel has 1 disc, and both of the end panels do not hold any discs. The panels that hold overlapping discs are pretty annoying, as I have to remove both discs if I want to get the one that's partially underneath.

The Scrubs S1 set was my first and only experience with this type of set. I personally dont mind it and plan to purchase replacement cases where you can fit 6 DVDs in one regular size case usign this format 3 times. Will be a real space saver.

A female friend of mine said that either Xena or Hercules is like this.
The only ones I own so far are The Ultimate Matrix Collection, as mentioned above, and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. If this style becomes more popular I'm buying a nice printer and going with custom covers because these sets are cheap, crappy and extremely lame.

I wouldn't say that I'm a big fan but I do like how the Matrix box set is divided up. Although I wish there was a btter way than overlapping the discs.

I just can't see why such an expansive set like The Ultimate Matrix Collection would skimp when it comes to the packaging.

I have only seen it on the scrubs set. It annoys the hell outta me.

For those who haven't seen it, here's some pictures of what the panels would look like:

A couple of the Star Trek films I have have this type of packaging. The stupid thing is, the double-wide cases are exactly the same size as they normally are, just the discs are half stacked on top of each other!

I don't mind it at all. Yes, they're pretty new as case-types go... since late last year sometime... Seems like all the studios are drifting toward thinner packaging, which is fine in theory. I'm all for conserving shelf space. About the only time I hate it is when a long-running series changes formats in between season releases.
