Michael, I quite like your use of keeping the UPC's in place as it keeps a more 'official' feel to the covers. Not having the UPC's would be like having a bootleg copy in a collection. VERY professional looking too.

Here's one for you DG: Obviously Lost doesn't have a UPC number yet, so I used one from another cover I did. BUT.. I did change the ISBN number. Check it out. A little easter egg if you will for the fans.

D'oh! I just noticed some remaining text that needs to be cloned out on the bottom of the front cover. Whoops. I'll have to fix that later.

Hey Michael, great work as always. I just had one thought tho...

The back cover looks a bit busy in my opinion. I was going to post a description of things that I might do to unbusy it a bit, then I realized it would be easier to just mock it up for you. So without further ado...my 10 photoshop job, with your original below for comparison sake:

(Edit: Removed image links)

I gave some more space around the images on the left, removed the images beside the Episode list, thus giving more room for that...and around the new episode list, gave some more space for the background image to come through.

Additionally...here are some more thoughts...

I might try giving some more space for the clouds above the title Lost on the front cover too, so that the title had more space before teh images of people started

The picture of Sayid on the front...any chase you could get one where his hair wasn't in the way and he didn't have the mango? That the first thing my eye goes toward when I look at the cover.

These are just my thoughts, and yes, I'm aware I get nitpicky sometimes. Like I said before, overall they look great. As for my comments, do with them what you will...including disregarding them.

As always your covers are superb.
Will you have a site for the covers or will you be on one of the established sites like Dagon's or Daprogger's?
I have been away for a while and have lost track of everything.

Jlyon, noted. I think it is a bit busy as well, but I think I have a better fix. With the route you posted, there is too much space designated to show titles, especially since most are pretty short. Secondly, most people could care less about the titles, they just want to watch the show, hence more visuals on this one than verbage. Also, I don't really want to see the background, b/c that is all it is for, something other than a solid color, it isn't important. All you are supposed to get from it is that it is a beach. Anyway, I will tweak it a little and post an update in the next day or so.

Randy, I think I will post this one to a bunch of places. I usually keep them to a small group, but I think I will go a different route for this one. I will post where I put it when it happens.

Okay, decided to knock this out before bed.

1. Changed Sayid on the front. His shirt is quite white, but I think it balances okay with Jack's shirt. I like the other one better, maybe I will clone out his hand and mango tomorrow.

2. Replaced two images on the back to one, helps with the busy look. Prefer this, plus the image I used is pretty simple, just two characters on the beach.

3. Darkened the image behind the episode list. I think this helps tone down the busy-ness as well.

as for the other suggestions:
4. The logo on the front, there isn't much more to the image to play with, this is as good as I am going to get it unless I can come up with a better quality image of it.

5. Now there are 4 images with the beach in them, there is no need to see much of the background. I think the point is getting across.

Anyone else?

Looks good.

And don't forget the text on the fron that you have to clone out (bottom middle, I believe).

Out of curiosity, where are you getting the high-res images for the front cover?

Great job of making it less busy...love the one photo instead of two, and the darkening behind the episode list helps as well.

Yep. Did that this morning before work, just didn't have time to re-upload it. Also laid out the other 4 front covers. Moving along great.

Dammit, I love your covers but I've been doing them 4 to a disk I just can't bear the thought of doing all of my menus over again, they take way too long. Great job as usual though corvin.

updated: Newer cast photos, some are more crisp and vibrant, adds a little more to the covers. Some capture the characters personalities as well. But I think the first two are done.

I wish. I have a graphic design degree. I used to work for a company that created multimedia cd-roms, websites, print work, pretty much everything. They went under though(long story), and due to where I live(Kentucky) those types of jobs are few and far between, so now I work at a sign company designing neon signs. Well, all types of signs, but those are the cool ones. Designing covers is a good and fun way to keep up on my photoshop/layout skills.

Here is the site I did for our (small / 7 employees) company with a bunch of photos of stuff we have done: Glass Sign Co.

Yep, we do an occasional sign in lexington as well. Joe's OK Bayou being one, that is the one on the site. And we are working on a Fitness Systems Inc. one right now for Lexington.

Sorry, not into emailing. Yeah the service I signed up for there is great 10GB storage for free. But the d/l per month is only 100MB. But don't fret, it is almost Feb.

You are more than welcome to get it from someone here that snagged it. As long as they aren't changed or modified I don't mind them being emailed around. Maybe one of your fellow DVDtalkers can help you out.
