This is the first major custom project I've attempted on my own, so go easy on me! The cover is for the Japanese R2 DTS edition of the movie. The design is based on the original R2 cover but with substantial modifications.
The art on the front originally had an ugly silver border around it, which I've removed. I've also replaced or covered up all Japanese text on both the back and spine.
Opinions?

37 views and no one can give a "Looks good" or "That sucks. Start completely over"?

I like it. Certainly beats the big shot of Clooney's head in the R1 release. The box that lists the region, audio, etc is a bit thick around the borders; I would definitely cut it down to 1 or 2px, make the bg black and the text white or lighter blue. I would cut off the crap about Cameron and Soderbergh on the front (maybe leave Soderbergh's name, but not as prominently, maybe format it like Clooney'd is, but put it near top?). The UPC might also look better if it were black bg with white bars 'n numbers. Also, I doubt if you can change it, but the bar across the top on the back seems a tad out of place. Are you just covering up Japanese characters with it or was it there to begin with?

I saw this when you first posted, but I didn't have the courage to post that I preferred the "big head" cover (in this instance). Technically, yours is good, but for some reason, the studio happened upon a picture of Clooney for the original cover that just grabs me better.

OK, guys, thanks for the feedback. It is all very helpful.
What I'm using now is taken directly from the Japanese case, just repositioned a little bit and with some of the Japanese text replaced. I never really liked the big white info block. Creating a new one from scratch is a good suggestion.
Unfortunately, that text is part of the original image and when I tried to paint it out I made a mess of it. Was just easier to live with it.
This was the hardest part of the cover. The original case has large Japanese text across the top. It appears to be a critic's quote. Just painting it out didn't work because it left the whole thing unbalanced and cuts into the arch of the image below. Covering it up was the best option. I tried a couple of different things, including putting the "Widescreen Edition" banner there, but it all looked pretty shoddy. Finally I came up with the idea of creating that bar of images using elements from the R1 cover. I agree it looks a little out of place (and isn't centered), but all things considered I think that part turned out OK.
If I think of it when I get home, I'll attach a scan of the original Japanese version for comparison so you can see how much I had to change.

Ah now that I see the original it makes alot more sense (I was assuming there were reasons for all the decisions). I think you did a pretty great job considering the source material.
