Is there anyway I can get a replacement for this from the company? Because I'm not sure if I still have the receipt for this.

NCYankee 09-05-05 02:19 PM

You can call Universal customer service and try - if it was purchased new, they should take care of you. Paramount sent me a new episode guide for Star Trek TOS no questions asked (and I had purchased it used) - but Fox wasn't quite as forthcoming.

Of course, if you just recently bought it, it is possible that Universal stopped putting inserts in - I have had my copy for a while.

Thank you very much. I did find my receipt from Best Buy but it has been more than the 30 days outlined in their policy. I'm going to give their customer service hell a shot tomorrow and see if they'll exchange it for me anyways. If not, I'll try the customer service thing with Universal like you suggested. And if all of that fails, I'll just be out of a small booklet.

Does Lost - Season 1 come with an insert booklet? All mine had were a couple of ads. Thanks.

batman64 09-07-05 03:18 PM

Same here. I thought it was odd that a TV set wouldn't index the episodes.

Any help would be appreciated.

The original Get Shorty and Shanghai Noon have inserts

Meet the Fockers as well (haven't bought yet, but considering).

MGM, WB, & Universal titles don't have inserts anymore. They may include an advertisement but no chapter inserts

Willh51 09-14-05 12:13 AM

Unless anyone knows differently, Fever Pitch Boston Red Sox Edition and Carlito's Way Ultimate Edition had only ads, no inserts.

I bought a used copy of the Anchor Bay "Repo Man" and wondered if it was supposed to come with anything inside besides the disc. (I relocated the sleeve into a clear case so I could see the reverse side (the mini-essay).)

Did the original Apocalypse now come with an insert? If so,can someone send me one? Thanks.

Cracked Jack 09-22-05 12:24 AM

Thanks DaBaomb for the info on those. Have a few more for everyone (I buy a lot of used DVDS):

The Forgotten
Johnny English
The Godson

I was also wondering if there was ever a slipcover for The Village. One more thing, does anyone know the year they stopped using inserts for MGM, Universal and WB? Was it this year or last? Just so I know not to ask about them if they are from a certain year. Thanks!

The Forgotten doesn't have a chapter insert but does have a DVD advertising insert (it looks like Columbia Tri-Star has abandoned chapter inserts and have DVD advertising inserts instead).

Johnny English is a Universal release so it doesn't have one.

Don't know about Godson.

Touch of Evil insert?

did Touch of Evil have an insert/booklet when it was first released on DVD in 2000? anyone know?

illennium 09-27-05 08:34 PM

Bought these used:

Downfall
The Sea Inside
Gunner Palace
Kung Fu Hustle

Inserts? Thanks in advance!

In answer to some unanswered questions from a couple of pages ago. Moonlighting has a four page insert with an episode list. My copy of Monk Season Two has no booklet but it does have a set specific advertising flyer "All New Episodes Fridays 10/9C USA"

darkhawk 10-04-05 02:09 PM

Did Quantum Leap Season 1 come with inserts?

Since this hasn't been answered yet... Yes, Touch of Evil came with an insert. Two versions in fact IIRC. The original had a several page insert with liner notes, this was replaced with a simple one sheet at some point in time... (same as the Hitchcock discs ala Vertigo, etc) Since it's a Universal title, I'm asssuming it no longer comes with either.

Premise - Yes, Apocalypse Now had an insert.

I know Paramount skimps on inserts for all their releases these days, but did anyone get anything in their Star Trek: Nemesis (CE) cases? Normally the ST:TNG film releases come with some ad for ST season sets but I was surprised to get nothing at all this time. Just wondering...

I know Kung Fu Hustle comes with an insert. Saw it with the cases on the shelf at Blockbuster.

Anybody know if The Upside of Anger or Million Dollar Baby had inserts in them?

M$B - no
Upside of Anger - can't say for sure but I'd guess yes since it's New Line.

Frenzal Rhomb 10-16-05 11:46 PM

Is there a slipcover with Capturing the Friedmans, or just a booklet?

mrdvd78 10-17-05 08:49 PM

How about the MGM "Special Edition" release of This Is Spinal Tap? Mine didn't come with any insert.

I got mine a couple years ago from Columbia House - it has a rather cool 4-page insert with bios of the band members (in character) and a chronology of the drummers and how they died.

reservoirdog 10-17-05 11:28 PM

Just got the Star Trek Motion Pictures Collection.

The following came without inserts, and I want to verify that they shouldn't have any:

Wrath of Khan
Undiscovered Country
Generations
First Contact
Insurrection
Nemesis

Thanks in advance!
