How to print covers to replace snap cases?

alright, ive got it all down, now the specs are like 71/2 by 11.
is that right, should i do something else or just tape the piece of paper to the back of the photo paper and print.

Changing your left margin to 3" will also work if using regular sized paper....

You are better off using an Exacto Knife and a metal ruler. I've read many complaints about paper cutters that haven't cut perfectly straight.

If you are using CoverXP, select Setup (the one in the top menu) then select adjustments. Set the printer adjust y to -6. Now when you get ready to print select Legal size paper even if you have Letter size and it will print a perfect cover.
Note: make sure your original image is 10.8 x 7.25

I purchased the glossy paper from Neato last year and could not use it. It is perferated for ease in cutting(?). You MUST get it to print exactly in the space or you lose part of your cover. I found it very difficult to use and ruined several sheets.
At $18 for 20 sheets it was a bit to expensive to use. I like the idea of this paper, but even with the help of their staff we could not figure out the exact dimensions to print perfectly. The mesurement they supplied did not wrk in the photoshop or Cover-Pro programs.

I use Kodak Premium photo paper, but I print on the reverse side (the ink doesnt dry fully with the gloss); it actually produces a very good print. I'm checking to see if Kodak sells legal-sized photo paper.....lol.

cutting technique
I want to try to print out a cover, but I was wondering...
How do you guys cut out the printed images from the sheet? Do you just use a scissor? Whenever I try to cut a straight line with a scissor it comes out sloppy and uneven.
Maybe if I had one of those giant paper slicer things.

Fiskors has cutters in 2 sizes 8x10 or 16x 11. They work great, just like the old fashiioned cutters. I got mine at Target. $9.99 and 19.99

Need Some Help
I want to print on 8.5 X 11 Photo Glossy Paper by HP. I own an HP DeskJet 932C and don't know where to download covers that will fit on 8.5 X 11 paper?? What are the margins set at when you open the picture in Photoshop?? Thanks for anyhow still trying to figure this all out!

Using photoshop, I can set the size the output image to the exact dimensions. The trick is the paper setup. Do I still need to tape a piece of paper on the back of the 8.5 x 11 paper if I select the 8.5 x 14 paper size and then set the left margin to 3"? Thanks.

When I print covers in Photoshop, I:
Set my paper size to A4 (landscape).
Attach an inch-wide strip of regular paper to one end of the glossy paper.
Photoshop->Print With Preview
Set the art all the way to the left (0" left margin)
Turn on Corner Crop Marks if the cover has a lot of white edges.
Print best quality.
Set my paper size to A4 (landscape).
