Disappointing Simpsons S3 Menus

Does anyone know why Simpsons S3 has such minimalist menus? Episode selection and special features are just text on a black background. The sound menu has grandpa in a theatre, and one other menu has a few people up on stage, but other than that the menus seem very lacking. I'm hoping their improved in season 4 although it won't stop me from buying it. Anyone else think those menus are crap, or is it just me?

I buy the Simpson sets for the episodes. Couldn't care less about the menus.

But the worse Simpson menus were the first (or was it second?) season where you had to press three times before the characters' heads matched with their respective bodies and the menu appears. Now that was a crap menu.

Season 4 has an animation of various characters on each menu. In fact, many people complain the menus on S4 are too bad (though I disagree because you can skip the animations w/ the next chapter button). The S4 menus are more colorful than S3, as well.

While the high quality of season 3's episode certainly made it a great DVD (not to mention almost all of the principal voice actors joining in on audio commentaries), the menus were a bit bland to say the least.

Yeah I also enjoyed S4's menus, mostly because you can skip through them (the animations are amusing at first, but it does get tedious).

Oh, and S2's "switching head" gimmick can be avoided by hitting the menu button (although some DVD players have that function disabled ;-/ ).

Who cares about menus? I mean, the reason we've all been waiting for this show every year on DVD, is for all the episodes to be in 5.1 surround with perfect visual quality. We've been waiting for all these episodes we fell in love with, when we were kids. If we're really going to contemplate buying something because of menu's... man oh man you're missing out.

Menus suck, plain and simple. I hate them. Especially when I must wait for something to dance across the screen before I can play the movie.

I am all for white text on a black background!

It really sucks to reach that age when you don't really think of yourself as old, and then from out of nowhere you read something like this and realize you're just kidding yourself. I was a senior in college when the Simpsons started airing.
