Fahrenheit 9/11 being released in September

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,14390,00.html

"Those who want to avoid the lines at the multiplex this weekend will have to wait until September. That's when Moore is planning to release the DVD, complete with extra footage and director's commentary."

I wonder if he'll release it on 11th September?

Will get the DVD noticed even more.

Doubt it. Not so much for taste reasons but because September 11 is a Saturday and I've never heard of a disc being released on a weekend.

I'd bet on the week before, close to or on the days of the Republican Convention in NYC.

Dan Average: If it would be in poor taste to release on 9/11, what does it say about the RNC that they tried to book their convention as close to 9/11 as possible?

Wow, that's a real quick turnaround. I hope more films follow in the same footsteps and we can get Spider-Man 2 in October.

I wonder if they will keep the price low so alot of ppl will pick it up. I would if its under $15. Its a good film but how many times would I watch it after the initial time? Needs to be cheap...

I'm sure the SRP for the film will be around $26.99 - $29.99 (even if the film is a one-disc edition or two-discs).

This means it'll be on sale for $15 on release date at Best Buy or Circuit City. Similar to Bowling For Columbine.

That's not always going to be possible is it? We are not children and this is not a Disney film (well it is actually, but you know what I mean).

This is a political film and the release of the DVD will be highly political. That is very good news for everyone in the land of the free and beyond.

Not that this thread should be full of attacks or solely political decate, because as you say we're talking about a DVD.

Let's keep it polite.

I'm happy about the quick turn-around, but I was thinking they'd want to release the DVD closer to the November election so it would be fresh in people's minds.

Wow this movie is breaking all sorts of box office records in New York. Let's see how it does in Mississippi before it hits DVD.

Friday screenings in metro- and Midtown-Atlanta were sold out on Thursday night, but I don't think it's breaking any sort of records here.

It seems to be the #1 picture of the weekend, even though it is on about 850 screens and White Chicks, the runner-up, is on about 3,000. That should make the DVD negotiations more competitive.

My guess is that it will come out in late September with additional footage, perhaps even a director's cut, updated through the next few months of 2004. As with the DVD of Bowling for Columbine, I bet we see a good number of extras.

There have been DVDs that have been released on Friday, so it's not out of the realm of possibility to release this DVD on a Saturday.

It's sold out all over the place around here. I couldn't get to see it.

I can't believe it's beating out Dodgeball, which at the multiplex I visited was on three screens to Fahrenheit's one.

Don't wait...

Of course I'll be buying this DVD, but the audience response is not to be missed. Our theater, Fahrenheit 9/11 on 3 screens, was sold-out and everyone was clapping, booing... throughout the film. This is an event DVD can't match.

Yeah, our audience was equally as vocal and it was great. At the end of the film when Moore held a long shot on Bush someone shouted out "You F***ing MURDERER!"

Priceless.

You're not even supposed to discuss movies in this forum. This forum is just for talking about DVDs (release dates, tech specs, etc.) The movie forum is for discussing films in general, and the other forum for stuff like politics.

So the mods post wasn't soley to prevent a harsh debate, but simply because the post was off topic for this forum in general.

It would be nice if they released new movies on DVD first and then put 'em out at the theaters. That'll be the day!
