I guess they are ok, although I really think Luke shouldn't have a lightsaber on IV's cover. And I'm also upset that they won't match Episodes I-III on my shelf (Widescreen is gold for I-III, but foolscreen for IV-VI.)

What would be nice if Lucas put out a collector boxed set liked Scarface and Schindler's List. Before I got my first dvd player, I bought Star Wars Phantom Menace Collector's Edition for my video tape player, included in the set is a 35mm Film Strip from the film and a really nice 48-page book of The Art Of Star Wars Episode One The Phantom Menace. Just imagine what could be pack in the dvd collector boxed set. Sadly, I don't think George is ever going to put something like that, but one can only dream.

I agree. Luke never use his lightsaber other than training in that film. Obi Wan should have had the lightsaber. Also, I think Vader should have been on the cover.

I can't decide if I want to pick this up when it comes out or hold out a hope for getting all six films in one big set. I'll probably end up getting both I'm sure.

I'm sure there will be a boxset... but I'd guess 2006 at the earliest.

Assuming Episode 3 comes on DVD in October or November of 2005, I would guess a boxset will be released at the same time as well...definitely in time for Christmas of 2005.

More like 2007 guys, as that's the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. I wouldn't expect anything before then.

Ahh...good point. But two years is long enough to release a bare bones set and then a much larger cooler set that (with the original trilogy?) that will force us to double/triple/quadruple dip.

Of course they will, you'll just have to buy the Episode 1-3 box set to match.

If those don't match, fear not, you can buy the complete 1-6 box set when that comes out too.

I wouldn't be shocked for the Ultimate 6 Episode Box Set to come out to help launch the Blu Ray version of HD DVD.

For it to come out any sooner than that would be a shocker.

Although I hate the changes Lucas has made to the originals, think ESB is the best since it was the most collaberative effort, think the new movies spoil the original 3, and am disappointed in his resistance to release the original versions, I still respect Lucas .

I wonder how many people who have so much hatred would say what they said on this forum to his face. Criticism is one thing but that kind of loudmouthed behavior in an anonymous internet forum is infantile. If Lucas offered them a job on Episode 3 I bet most of them would love to be part of Star Wars (not for the money but in some way). I know I would.

Really? It looked like it was from the fight between Luke and Darth in ESB. But if he got the saber color wrong then thats reason enough to say Lucas sucks!!!111

You need a valium Goat. You've never even met him.
I think you need to know I was kidding. Man you fanboys need to lighten up. Besides how do know I never met Lucas. He could be my best friend.

Winky smilie aside, that's the way Luke always looked on said poster art. The only thing is, is that I can't remember if the light saber was blue or green on said poster. Anybody got one of these posters hanging on their HT wall?

Cool covers/Disc Art. I like how the cover art matches the prequal art and the disc art for ANH is the original poster (or a variation of it).
Yeah, shame they couldn't have used poster art on the discs of Ep. I and II. If the rumors of a Ep. I re-release are true, anybody wanna bet the disc art will be different as opposed to the Darth Maul face that's on there now? And if Ep. I is re-released, why wouldn't Ep. II be as well?

The bonus materials disc looks really cheesy but hey star wars is really cheesy.
Yeah, it seems like watching Star Wars in our adult years is a bit of a guilty pleasure. Must've been the whole toy line tie-in that made it seem like a "for kids" franchise.

Aren't there rumors around that they are replacing the emperor's face with Ian McDiarmid's. Seems odd then that the original Emperor's face is on the cover. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I scrolled to the end of the thread to make the same point. Quoted for truth. Sleuth.

Then another box set for 30th Ann. in 2007 as Terrell mentioned.

2005 box set depends on if Lucasfilm wants to make a quick buck.

The 2007 box set depends on at least two things.
1) If Lucas and ILM decide to further tinker with the original trilogy with all new scenes similar to what was seen around the net in the "fanboy" list. Creating what was referred to the Ultimate Editions.
2) If Blu-Ray or HD-DVD is out by then and Lucas decides to re-release all six films in HD.

Um, that's how the original poster artwork was 20 years ago.

It was probably painted before they knew his new saber would be green. Just like the Jedi Luke figure first came with a blue saber and they quickly changed it to green.

Something i don't understand is why did they replace the shadowy sinister looking emperor in the hologram in episode V with that grim reaper from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

That is Ian McDiarmid on the cover.

Because that emperor looks and sounds nothing like Ian McDiarmid's emperor that's in ROTJ and the prequel trilogy. That emperor in ESB was an old woman with monkey eyes superimposed over her's, and it looks godawful. This is one change that needed to be made years ago. Anything would look better than that shit.

There won't be a Star Wars trilogy release in 2005. Maybe he'll release a matching prequel set in 2005. But I doubt it. The next time you see a Star Wars DVD other than Episode III will likely be a 6 film box set in 2007, 30th Anniversary box set if you will.

I would (be shocked, that is).

Lucas doesn't use these films to 'launch' formats. That was one of his main excuses for waiting so long with this release (along with the "we don't have time to do it right" mantra).

He'll wait until there is a very healthy number of customers for the format, then he'll release. Anything else wouldn't make much sense for him financially. He doesn't have any financial interest in Blu-Ray, etc. (unlike the major studios, Sony, etc.)

Fullscreen covers?

Not that I support fullscreen in any way, but anyone seen the fullscreen version covers yet? Are they indeed gold? If so, Someone out there should buy the full screen versions, scan them and photoshop them into widescreen versions and put em up for download somewhere, once they are released.

I wish that they all had quotes instead of just "Widescreen" at the top. Episode I was the only one that did this. It said, "Every saga has a beginning". I think all six movies should have something similar.
