I think that you people are very very stuck up about buying DVD's. It seems like some of you have a superiority complex. If people like Full Screen, let them like it. Even though I don't think it's wise to buy F/S, I don't go around trying to get people to see things my way. It just seems like a waste of time and energy.

Or when Good, Bad & Ugly was released as a CE, I snagged the older version for a friend who wanted it just to have it. Of course, that prompted people to point out that there was the infinitely better CE, and so forth.
Needless to say, it's annoying. I prefer widescreen; I generally prefer larger CEs, but people decide to play good samaritan and expound on why something else is better. Really, I just want to get in and get out and not trade OAR philosophy with someone.

Well, there are people out there that are so rich saving a few bucks isn't worth the effort for them. They drive $100,000 cars, live in homes worth millions of dollars, eat dinners at $300 a plate, wear $200 jeans, and spend literally thousands a night at night clubs. While most of us rifle through Best Buy and Circuit City flyers thinking saving $1-2 vs. the competitors is some kind of great victory.
Some people can afford to be that "stupid".
And of course there are many out there who think buying a movie which you might only see once as the epitomy of stupidity.

I once had a friend who is married to a lawyer...it was nothing for them to pay cash for an $80,000 car if it's what he/they wanted...so it is indeed possible this person had the money to do this...for some people like my father my 250 dvd's over 4 years is ridiculous..I guess its all relative...I wish I had known where to find these guys who wanted the ST discs that bad ...I posted the entire set for considerably less than the cost of the 3 upcoming boxes and did not get one response on the newsgroups...unfortunately I am not an Ebay seller...

I tended to prefer the "mind your own business, nerd!" approach for a while, now I put those nearly-forgotten college German courses to use and pretend to not speak English when bothered.

I was in a Blockbuster once, were somebody bought seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for $60 (Used). I told them that if they went about 500 feet to Best Buy they would probably be able to buy them new for between $45 and $55, but they said that they don't believe in supporting large corporations and would stick with the "mom and Pop" shops (they thought Blockbuster was Mom and Pop!)

A friend of mine purchased a Best Buy Rewards card. He's all the time going on about how he gets these five dollar coupons. However, ever since Best Buy has introduced this Rewards card, I have noticed their prices across the board have gone up considerably. More often than not, I save far more than five dollars on any given DVD purchase I make online, and I don't have to pay 8% tax either. I try to point this out to him all the time he goes to Best Buy, but he keeps on spending all this money in Best Buy. And it's not like he's filthy rich either; he makes less than I do. Some people, regardless of how much you are trying to help them, simply don't care if they save money or not. Maybe it's more important to him to have the DVDs in hand when he wants them, I don't know.

I find that "Piss off!" is a pretty handy reply when people get all up in my grill about something I'm buying.

This thread brings to mind the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted."
Also, did it not occur to anyone else that maybe these guys buy/work for or possibly own a video store in the area? In the long run, the discs with only 2 episodes will be more profitable than the ones from the season sets which will probably have 4 episodes per disc.

Anyway, there's a lot of reasons they might have being doing so... heck, i think its stupid that some people here buy DVD's and have dozens laying around that are still unopened.
