Scorsese Set worth it?

All five films are GREAT and commentary from Marty on all of them?
Yeah - I'd say it's more than worth it.
I, personally, would pay over $200 for this set - good thing I can get it for less than a quarter of that.

i didn't think there was a new release on "Mean Streets" included. I thought this was the same ole, because a new old release just came out a few weeks ago. Can anyone confirm this?
Oh, but either way yes, its worth it!

Scott1598, STL is an acronym for "Share the Love." When someone buys an item of Amazon.com, they may invite someone else to buy the same item for 10% off Amazon's price [the referrer gets a GC equal to the 10% discount, assuming someone uses his referral]. DVDTalk has a forum devoted to these referrals.
And the 'new' release of Mean Streets you're referring to was a price drop, not a new version.

For $37, I'll get all five films. You'd pay $34 retail just for Goodfellas and Mean Streets. Those who only want those two: are you saying that the other three films aren't worth a dollar apiece to you?

Originally I was just gonna upgrade Mean Streets and get GoodFellas (since I haven't seen the other movies) but based on the reviews of the other films and the price its all going for, I'm definately getting the box.

From the boxset, I've only ever seen Goodfellas and After Hours, both of which I love.
However, I managed to pre-order the boxset at a cheaper price than buying Goodfellas and After Hours separately, so I went for it. If it had only been slightly more expensive, I still would have gone for it. Can always split the boxset up and sell the films you don't want on eBay or wherever.

It's a no-brainer.
All five movies are classics. GOODFELLAS and MEAN STREETS need little introduction, but ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE is one of Scorcese's most underrated films and a big fave of mine, AFTER HOURS is a loopy, paranoid, Coen Brothers-like dark comedy I highly recommend, and WHO'S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR is a seminal early film (a student film, I believe), which to the best of my knowlege has never been available on home video before.
Conisdering that the GOODFELLAS SE is going to list for over 25 bucks MSRP by itself, the boxed set is one hell of a great deal on five great flicks. Plus, if you're going to buy GOODFELLAS and MEAN STREETS (or anything else) separately, it makes more sense cost-wise to go ahead and get the set.

Either way, every site I've seen the news on has said that 'Mean Streets' (and, indeed, all the discs) would have commentary and other extras. I'm nearly positive it's new.
EDIT: This link would seem to confirm it as well.
