Your very welcome Randy! It's the few thankful souls such as yourself that make the effort worthwhile.

I always liked theGreek. Went out and bought the Spawn animated series just to be able to use those covers. Great work Greek! Don't listen to someone with 'Troll' in their name.

JupiterPrime 06-22-04 02:09 PM

I dont think FT was referring to John directly as we all know that John's work has always been solid - I personally never had a need for any of them as the older sci-fi/monster flicks ewre never my "thing" but while checking his covers out, John never failed to please and was always a good bet for a quality cover.

I'd presume to mean that FT might just be referring to some of teh covers on the Greek in general....cant honestly say, im not in his head and I've never been to the Greek so.....make of it what you will

Gore_Hound_X 06-22-04 05:52 PM

Actually FT is referring to a user named DragonSlayer, his "covers" were unique conceptions using a really low-end software package, he is a great guy though. He made me a few custom covers for some films I had. He did the best with what he had and "he" loved the way his covers were coming out. As 1 artist said "Make the covers you want first and what everyone else wants later"

Michael Corvin 06-23-04 06:17 AM

Oh yeah. DragonSlayer. I remember those. They definitely had a unique look to them.

I also just bought credits for my DVDcoverart acct. before it went down and used the site to convert snapper covers.

I hope they read these posts and get the site back up.

Oh yes, like that's a good reason... As if Matt doesn't have enough probems without comments like that!

As soon as the legal issues are dealt with Matt will take stock and decide where to go from there...

...patience.

can someone tell me who was making the Babylon 5 Season Covers?? The ones with just the year and a different ship on each of the backs?? I got the first 3 before DDCA went down. The person that did this had some great talent...

thx

Andrea 06-26-04 09:45 PM

Those would be JupiterPrime's covers. They had "Babylon 5" inside different colored jump gates on the front and very cool shots of the ships on the backs. If those are what you're talking about, he posted about 6 posts up if you want to look at his profile and PM him.

You can also check ones out here:

They use Jupiter's back covers and Ric's fronts and spines. If you like continuing spine shots, these are fantastic.

Southpaw 06-27-04 07:06 AM

Andrea...thx so much...I really appreciate it...

That continuation spine is very well done...

yes that was me - and yes I did make the photshop files of my covers available to Ric Easton for his series of covers...personally I prefer teh ones that Ric wound up producing with my vessle renderings - I was trying to forego using any of teh retail art, but Ric managed to pull it off quite nicely in his set. Ric and I have worked well together in teh past in conjunctin and collaboration on teh STAR TREK MOVIES spanning spines series where I rendered teh various enterprises, and he provided the rest of the of the covers, which were also partially derived from Andrew Parmets covers - so that was a real team effort.

Ric's star trek series differs from mine by I felt the Enterprise-D should be included in teh spanning spines, and he felt that (while not presuming to speak for him) that it was better to have teh ship that started it and the one that ended it. - his are also for double width cases, mine are singles.

Thanks again for tke kind acknowledgements, and I hope to have something together real soon where I can once again host and disply my work and freely distribute it to a few close friends.

@Jupiter
I have those Star Trek covers (your version), and I must say that they make the movies stand out on my shelf.
Must also agree with you that Ric`s covers usually are great.

Andrea 06-27-04 08:30 PM

Jup, I also have your slim versions of Ric's ST Movie series. I favor the Enterprise D on the spine, too.

I still think you two should get together and do a Stargate SG-1 series. :)

Southpaw 06-27-04 08:31 PM

EDIT..Nevermind..I was being an idiot..I figured it out with Ric's help..

Jupiter,

Very nice covers...although the ones Ric did are very nice also w/the running spine..Only thing is..the Ric downloads are very small in size...they only show up at 72dpi and like a 400KB download....

trying to work on that 1 now

You are probably looking at the LARGE PREVIEW instead of clicking on the DOWNLOAD COVER link.

I'm not a trekkie but alot of my friends are, so I d/l these (no problems) :)

big al 1983 06-28-04 08:14 AM

oops double post!

RDYoung 06-29-04 10:02 AM

Did Matt take the forum down?

samlonky 06-29-04 10:30 AM

go here:

http://p072.ezboard.com/fdvdepotcustomerforumfrm27

but all the action seems to be at this Dagon's site:
www.dagonsden.com

it seems this is the "heir apparent" to DVDCA -

RDYoung 06-29-04 11:07 AM

Thanks!

vice86 07-28-04 11:07 AM

So I guess dvdcoverart.com isn't coming back? Ofcourse I just bought 100 creds and used about 4...DOH!!!.

mr_jbloggs 07-29-04 10:29 AM

Oh man, I still had my 100 credits paid for and unused and thought that once I get some time I'll start replacing some of my covers.

Now that there is no DVDCA site, I have no credits, no refund and probably no chance of getting at the covers.

I hope they release the covers on P2P sites shafting all the studios.
