I was looking at the back of the bonus dvd in wal-mart this morning and just one feature listed a time and it was 48 mins, not sure of the title though.

I'd have like to have gotten that disc, but no way I was going out of the way to the ghetto ass wal-mart here, to have to put up with the low class customers and wait for ever to track down the sorry employee to get the movie from the locked glass case for me.
Thus I just bought it at Best Buy. |

I suppose I'll give it a few days and try calling. Although 9 times out of 10 its quicker to make the 10-min trip than waiting for an answer over the phone... What does the packaging look like on the bonus-disc version? Is it shrinkwrapped on the back, or is there a sticker plastered on the slipcase? |
There is a sticker on the slipcase saying Exclusive to WAL-MART and then the disc is in a paper sleeve (like eurotrip) wrapped to the back.

it's pretty damn sad when people start judging walmart customers. pathetic.
I went there today and picked up the set with the bonus disc....was out in less than 10 minutes. such a chore. |
Cases...
I, too, visited my local (6 miles away) Wally World for the FOD 3-discer. But now I want a new case, for the following reasons:
1. Under the cardboard slipcase, there was a huge gash in the front of the plastic keepcase. No way for me to tell on the shelves which was clean, and I would prefer not having to take it back to the store. 2. I want a triple-keepcase to accomodate the third disc... have they perfected the triple-keepcase that is as narrow as a single, that will fit in the slipcover? If you know of one, please let me know where I can find it. The previous triple-cases I've purchased were as thick as the Back to the Future case, and even as fat as a 4/5-disc Alpha, with a variation of the "pages" inside to only hold 3 discs. Needless to say, I'd prefer a slimmer case, especially with this slipcase. Good luck out there! CS |
Yeah, they make a triple that is as slim as a 1 disc case. Sorry I dont have a link to where you could get them, but I assume inetdvd.com might have them. (I went in w/ some other here on the forum & ordered)

I don't believe that the bonus disc has the isolated score that the original disc has, so if you're double-dipping, you might want to consider keeping the original as well.

On top of that, it's hard to even move in the store, as it's always crowded and they have a ton of stuff just sitting on palet jack crates in the middle of aisles, rather than on shelves or displays. It's a fire hazard for sure. That wal-mart is just a nightmare. There's a nicer one a little further away, but not worth the trek for a bonus disc I may watch once. |
Originally posted by Josh Hinkle I have nothing against wal-marts, or their customers in general, just the one near me and the people who shop there. You can count on one hand the people that don't speak ebonics or english as a second language in there. But I'll freely admit I have little patience for the uneducated lower class. Just picked it up at my Walmart with the bonus disc. I had to search hard for the widescreen version because they always have the foolscreen in the front. They're always trying to push foolscreen on the customers it seems. They allowed me to pricematch to Best Buy for $16.99. So, I think I got a pretty good deal. I also picked up Frequency from the $7 rack.

Originally posted by Grabastic go in the morning, around 7 or 8. the place is almost totally empty. i was in and out of what is usually a madhouse of a Wal-Mart in less than 10 minutes. slicker than snot. ;) Seriously, this wal-mart is the worst store of any chain department store I've ever been to. It's amazing that it's stays in business. I do all my shopping for cleaning supplies and what not at the Target across the road, even though everything is more expensive there than at the wal-mart just to boycott that lame ass store. Though I do occasionally swing by the much nicer wal-mart 20 minutes or so away, but not often as it's the opposite way that I drive for work and school. |

Originally posted by gutwrencher that does suck. guess I'm glad I live in the sticks. Gut Yeah it does. But at least there's a nicer one 20 minutes or so way I can swing by sometimes, but like I said, it's the opposite way from work and school, so it's too far to go just to pick up a DVD for a bonus disk. |
Originally posted by xfilekr I was looking at the back of the bonus dvd in wal-mart this morning and just one feature listed a time and it was 48 mins, not sure of the title though. Bonus DVD! Featuring World Series MVP Bret Saberhagen Only at Wal-Mart There's no mention of a 90 minute documentary. It does mention "Bravo's From Page to Screen: Field of Dreams" A 48-minute documentary on making W.P. Kinsella's novel, "Shoeless Joe", into a film." I didn't open my disc yet, because I want someone to confirm that this bonus disc actually has a 90 minute documentary. |
Got it today and just opened it up. Here is the contents of the bonus disc...
There is a welcome from Bret Saberhagen - 50 sec. long From Father to Son - 8:01 Daring to Dream - 7:41 Pitching a Perfect Game - Bret Saberhagen Techniques - 6:20 Field of Dreams Scrapbook - 1 hour 30 minutes I didn't have the first release and haven't actually watched any of this yet. The Field of Dreams Scrapbook starts with Phil Alden Robinson talking about Shoeless Joe. After this they start to talk to W.P. Kinsella about his novel. Edited to add: Times are approximate as I have not actually watched these features all the way through, I just fast forwarded. |
Anyone know why this is exclusive to Wal-Mart? I never thought of Wal-Mart as a big electronics/DVD seller as Best Buy or Circuit City are. I just find it a little weird that theres a Wal-Mart exclusive disc.

wal-mart is the largest dvd retailer in the country, probably the world.
just due to sheer volume of the number of stores. |
Just wanted to point out once again that the biggest problem with Wal_mart having the bonus disc is the Full Frame BS.
Luckily I have two Wal-Marts in my area. The first one only had three FF copies. The second had dozens of copies but only a handfull of them were widescreen. If you want the bonus disc (which does have the 90min doc) then not only do you have to go to Wal-Mart, you have to go soon before all the WS copies are gone. |
Just to be clear
If one had the original release, and then bought the new release, say, at BB, would the only things missing be the Bret Saberhagen stuff? Has anyone seen the "Darig to Fream" featurette yet and can comment on what that is?
