Road to Perdition had some excellent cut scenes. The one with Al Pacino was fantastic. I don't know why they cut that. Also, all of Perdition's scenes went through post-processing, which means they all looked as sharp as the actual feature.

second to this -- it was not a bad movie, but would have actually been a really GOOD movie with the scenes back in. The director's commentary kept referencing "studio pressure" to leave the scenes out. Hopefully there will be an SE someday, but not holding my breath....

Good point.

The first time I saw the directors cut (or whatever they call it) I couldn't believe how much better the movie (which I really liked before) was than the movie I'd seen before. Instead of "wow that was a really good movie with a really confusing ending" it became "what a great stinkin movie".

DreamWorks is tentatively planning a multi-disc Gladiator: Director's Cut DVD for 2005, which will include Ridley Scott's longer version of the film (many of the deleted scenes on the previous DVD release will be edited back into the film, and there will be new bonus material as well).

In my opinion I think some of these deleted scenes would have ruined the movie instead of enhanced it.
