Which DVD's have deleted or extended scenes that are worth it?
One of my favorite extras are the deleted or extended scenes of my favorite movies. Many times on DVD's these add little to no value as many reviewers claim and as many of us who experience can attest to.
Now, I guess the case could be made that Director's Cuts or movies that include seamless branching are ones with deleted, but let's stick to DVD's that actually have the scenes as a special feature option either to play one or all.
So my questions is: which DVD's truly have deleted or extended scenes as a special feature that are fun to watch and bring something more to the film because of them?? Now this is according to you..not a reviewer or critical acclaim, but your opinion.
Mine would be Alien (1979) before the Quad came along and seamlessly branched the scenes that I am sure most know.

The only one that I've found (and remember) so far that adds/explains something in the movie that otherwise seems to be a mistake is Galaxy Quest when Weaver unzips her jumpsuit to distract the guards. W/O the deleted scene she goes from fully zipped to unzipped in a scene change and it makes no sense...

I remember really likeing the deleted scenes for Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me. It was one of my first DVD's so I watched the hell out of them. As I got more DVD's I noticed that 9 times out of 10 the deleted scenes sucked. So after awhile I stopped watching them all together.

Boogie Nights has some good ones, especially the 2-disc release which had an extra deleted scene. There is also commentary for them.
Gladiator had some good ones too, again with optional commentary.

I don't normally watch the deleted scenes, I think the only ones I can recall that were worth watching are the ones in Gladiator. I think I've watched the Joe Dirt ones and the ones on The Patriot, but nothing that great.

The only deleted scenes I usually enjoy are the ones from Kevin Smith films. Especially from Jay and Silent Bob, even though it wasn't my favorite movie. The intros he does for every scene is great.

Donnie Darko has excellent deleted scenes (some of them are being incorporated into the upcoming director's cut re-release)
While the Untitled edition of Almost Famous already has many deleted scenes included in it's extended cut, there are some deleted scenes (separate from the ones included in the Untitled version) that are worth watching. The most notable being the "Stairway to Heaven" scene.

Columbia Home Video pulled a rabbit out of a hat for the special edition of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" - didn't realize they or Spielberg held back this footage from Criterion and their laserdisc special edition. Let's hope the future release of Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" includes the numerous scenes that hit the cutting room floor as well.

Gladiator has excellent deleted scenes. Some of which I thought should have stayed in the movie (Scott also thinks some scenes should have been stayed in). Hopefully they will release the directors cut that aired on tv on DVD
