Gotta go with "The Last Samurai."
A regular 2-disc slim keepcase. Nice. Thank you, Warner, for not going cardboard on that one. |
Freaks and Geeks yearbook. No contest.

You know, there's a Korean LE of Last Samurai and it's in a really neat cardboard case. I don't really like those kinds of case but this one's different: one DVD comes out of the top of the case and one comes out of the bottom. Both of them slide out at the same time (i.e. you can't just have one DVD out of the case). I think it's really slick.
I forgot about the Alien head. That has to be some of the best packaging ever. However, it doesn't have a mini-Hanzo sword or an uncut version of Kill Bill in it. :D |
i like the Saving Private Ryan D-Day edition case...

It's the Universal Monsters collection for me... Bring on the Creature, Mummy, and the Invisible Man!

The new, 3-Disc CE of ELVIS: The '68 Comeback Special
also The new 2-Disc Elvis: Aloha special cover's pretty nice The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Scarface: Deluxe Box The Kill Bill Vol. 1 R2 is really cool I also really like the red, 2-disc Enter the Dragon SE |
Blue Underground's 2-disc LE of The Final Countdown with the cool lenticular cover.

The Marx Bros. Collection
5 discs - from Warner Bros in keepcases (!) - in a nice slipcase. Why would I award something so pedestrian with a "favorite packaging" nod? I dunno, perhaps because they resisted the urge to do something "special" yet it could have been worse (snappers). So perhaps I should say this is my favorite "normal" packaging of the year. Just about every other choice given in the thread is something "special". I thought I'd differentiate. :) |
Deluxe Freaks & Geeks, definitely.
