I'm hoping they do something for both Spidermans when SM2 is released on DVD (probably Christmas), so I think I'll hold off on both.

I have the original release and it souns like the new Superbit does not offer significant advantage over the original release. Since this is a Sony title, I think I will wait until the Blu-Ray version. Who knows, it could only be about 18 months away.

I have the original release too which has good enough picture and sound for me.
Cant see the point upgrading, would rather spend my money on films I dont have yet.

didn't most complain that there was too much grain in the original print of spiderman and that the sound wasn't that great compared to most action movies.

if you're gonna see Spider Man 2, it's probably worth it to upgrade just cuz of the movie cash.

Figure, a movie ticket is about $10 ($10.25 in NYC), and you could sell off your original version of the DVD for about $6-$8. That would equal the cost of the new deluxe edition.

I was at my local Circuit City and saw a copy of Spiderman 3-Disc Deluxe Edition and I think we are better off keeping our 2-disc special editions. I haven't really been keeping up with the talk surrounding the deluxe release so forgive me if this has already been said. But I think its crap that they just repackaged the 2-disc special edition and just added an additonal disc and put a box around it. If they aren't going to take the time to at least present it differently...it's not worth it to me. Besides I'm sure when Spiderman 2 gets released there will be something else available. Well that's my 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more. Out of the Deluxe and Superbit, I would go for the latter. At least someone posted that the DTS rocks in comparison to the DD, while the improvement on the video is minimal.

An improved presentation of the movie is always better than any extras about the moive, IMO.

From the ones I've used in the past, it's just 1 ticket.

Screw the Deluxe Edition, and I'm one of the freaks who likes extras! I already have the SE and if the DE's third disk has extras as crappy as the SE's, then it's just a waste of DVD space.

I'd get the Superbit if the DTS track really is as good. I thought the DD track on the SE really bit. Anybody got news on the Superbit's commentary? Is it decent?

I have been planning on purchasing another copy of Spiderman as the little ones took a huge liking to the film and I have to say the first disc is not in the best shape. I will purchase the superbit(DTS I am sure will be awesome).

maybe the wtc trailer is that teaser trailer thats mentioned in big bold letters.

I read a review from a customer on Amazon.com that it is indeed the WTC teaser trailer that was missing from the original 2 disc release.

That's almost enough for me to buy it as that was one of my favorite trailers of all time. Plus, I have a nephew who asked if he could have my Spider-Man DVD. I felt selfish when I told him "Heck no!"

Okay, foolish me. I picked it up today. Not worth it except maybe for the Movie cash for Spider-Man 2. There is no WTC teaser trailer to be found anywhere. That reviewer on amazon is a punk! The new special features are only 30 minutes long. Save your cash or buy the Super Bit. I bought this at Target which had it for $15.99 at least. $8 worth of Movie Cash + $8 for 30 minutes of special features. At least I can give my nephew an unopened widescreen 2 disc set.

Picked up the DE today for $15.99. I did not own the original release and was planning on seeing Spiderman 2. So this purchase was a no brainer for me.
Good thing I held off buying the first release!
It's always good to wait with Sony Pictures releases.

Yep, I just bought it and you're right. Don't know where that digipak pic is from, but it's not the Deluxe Edition that they're selling around here.

For anyone still on the fence about upgrading to the deluxe edition: I watched the "features" on the third disk last night and they are pretty weak. It felt as if they had filmed these when they were making the original release but cut them because they ran out of space and thought these were the least interesting. Even the Spiderman 2 "exclusive look" is pointless, it just splices in comments from some of the actors into the teaser. All in all, pretty lame.

I watched the Superbit version last night and was very impressed with the DTS track. The picture had a noticeable improvement over the original disc too. I didn't listen to the commentary though so I have no info on that.

I think this probably has decided it for me... I'm NOT buying the deluxe set. Had they actually made the 3rd disc interesting, I wouldn't mind the double-dip. But it sounds like leftover fluff. Screw that.
