Buffy season 7 Release Date

I just got my Season six box set in the mail today and the normal next-season advertisement card there...

It says to expect season 7 in October!!! (2 months sooner than I was thinking it would come out)...

I can't wait to get this set if nothing else but for the commentary on "The Chosen." But I have been hearing ALOT of rumors that Fox is producing a mega set (only for region 1) that will be alot like the Season Nine of X-files (2 discs of nothing but features)...

Fox is producing a mega set of Buffy with a lot of season 9 of the X-Files in it? Huh?

My guess is that he meant that, like Season 9 of X-Files, Buffy Season 7 will have two discs of just extras?

From the DVDTalk review of X-Files Season 9:

"In addition to the extras that are scattered throughout the first five discs, there are two discs included that contain bonus features. "

Great news. 2 months earlier than expected. Now I just need the remaining sets of Angel so I can sit down and have a non-stop Buffy-a-thon.

Great news!

I haven't seen most of the seasons 6 and 7 episodes yet, so I can't wait. I hope they're still planning to release Angel: Season 4 in September. (if not sooner!)

That's what I was thinking, but 144 episodes of Buffy + 110 of Angel @ 45 minutes/episode = 190 hours or 8 24 hour days. I think I'll need to pace myself.

Two words: Too cool.

Especially, if that rumor of two discs of extras, but that sounds far fetched.

It'd be nice if they included the original pilot, but that probably won't happen.

I always thought it was an odd decision to schedule the rotation to miss the Christmas shopping season. Though the last one did come out a couple weeks earlier.

The original pilot probably won't ever be seen in any kind of "official" capacity.

I've seen it, and believe me, you aren't missing much. It runs about twenty minutes, has a different actress playing Willow, doesn't have Angel or the Master, and has extremely poor/cheap production values. The single special effect is a vampire being dusted that's done in transitions like it came from an old Hammer film. It's also more done more in the tone of the theatrical movie than the regular series as well.

As for the "Chosen" commentary, I read a transcript of it, and I found it really kind of disappointing.

You should get BTVS season 7(R2-widescreen) from CD-WOW.Someone mentioned in another forum that the price is real cheap for some reason almost 50 percent cheaper than AmazonUK.You should go thru the DVDTalkForum link to the website.

critterdvd, where have you heard these rumors? I haven't heard anything for the Region 1 release except for the projected release date and the features that are on the Region 2 version.

Yeah, it's definitely gonna take awhile! When they all come out I'm gonna put aside at least a month where I watch only these in my free time.

Then again...there's always that "personal leave of absence" from work.

I have read these 7/8 disc rumors off Buffy fan sites... the first time i just took it as a mean rumor, but I have seen it a couple times since then, so know I think it could be true (Im saying that with my fingers crossed). Im going to go through my computers history tonight, and see if i can find any links to the websites (i visit alot of Buffy sites).

And in response to the unaired Buffy Pilot, I think the reason that it hasn't been released (and why it won't be) is because it was a test-run of the show and it was BAD (and chessey beyond words), and of the few quotes that I have read from Joss Whedon about the pilot, is that in his eyes the show started at "Welcome to the Hellmouth."

I have seen the pilot and it is bad, but for historical reasons, it would be nice to have the whole thing or part of it in some form on DVD just to show where Joss's original concept for the show came from (excluding the movie).
