I think that much of what you have found out so far confirms the rumors that were known before-this dvd is rather difficult to track down. If we could get some of these promotional copies that would be great.

I have some connections in that part of the world but not in Macedonia....I have sent a few emails however si we will see what happens.

Heard back from the Ministry...there are no more promo DVDs left. He said even Antonio Banderas wanted one (now I definitely believe the QT thing). He said he would look around in Skopje for one. It seems that with this starpower interested in the film, it would get released.

One suggestion is to write Jon Mulvaney at Criterion. They are going to be releasing Videodrome, which is Universal. Perhaps they can get a hold of Before the Rain.

I guess my last hope is that the distributor somehow comes through. I hope to hear from him today.

And now I heard back from the distributor. They only produced the DVD for the Macedonian government. They do not have the license for the sale or distribution. Man, that is disappointing. I thought I was going to get somewhere on that one.

If anyone knows Quentin Tarantino, maybe we could get him to pressure for a DVD release. Seems like somebody should care about this film.

Well, if Banderas could not get a copy a highly doubt it we will.

A Criterion release of this film will be phenomenal. Criterion does not have a single film that deals with the past history of the Balkans and Before the Rain (other than another Bulgarian film which I think is the best candidate) is the perfect choice.

Thanks Pro...I suggest all who want this on DVD to send Jon an email. There is a contact form on Criterion's website. Also, email Universal and request this movie on DVD. I am still trying to confirm that they are the rightholders, but it doesn't hurt to request it.

OKAY, I CAN NOW CONFIRM UNIVERSAL HAS THE US AND CANADA DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS ON THIS TITLE!
