This is quite excellent.

INDEED.

My only concern is that followup seasons take too damn long to come out.

I really don't want to be posting here in 2007 asking when season 5 is going to come out.

Here is a link to the lengthly news story about extras and this release:

Here are some possible cover arts:

LOTS more information posted in the newslink posted above, including what the gifts might be (bobble head dolls, script, picture frame, cups and saucers, etc).

Now I am starting to lean heavily toward the boxed set. We shall see!

They gotta put the script in as the gift. Otherwise there's just no point.

I actually hate ALL of the 4 boxart designs

I voted for the script, and agree that the cover art is a little too generic for such a large release. I thin kthey shoukd have gone toward the Friends look for their cover art, but it doesn't really matter. People that will buy this will do so regardless of the cheesy cover art.

Saw these last night. Not a fan of any of the art either. The only one remotely decent would be the top right, with the silver/brushed metal look.

But agreed, the gift ideas suck. The script is decent, but the others just plain suck. I mean that other crap is worthy of ebay junk.

The bottom two covers are just plain horrible! I lean toward the "table" cover myself, but the silver-ish one is okay, too.

Agreed that most of those gifts suck. I don't see any of them making the release worth an extra $30 (separate box sets are $50 each, "gift set" has both box sets plus the gift for $130), so I hope the gift set has more than that going for it!

quick question. Why are the bonus features on the front of the box?

According to the survery, that is a "sticker", though it doesn't look like that on the cover art.

Ugh. Those covers are terrible. "Seinfeld" is such a classic show, and it looks like Jerry is personally involved in making this a definitive set. They should make that more apparent with the design, instead of looking like another newspaper ad for TBS reruns. Make it look classy and dignified, like something Chip Kidd would come up with.

The crap they are considering is really tacky too (although I think the script is a nice touch). If someone isn't inclined to buy it already, why would some ugly salt and pepper shakers seal the deal?

I don't care about the cover art one way or the other. I just hope that some of the "never before seen footage" is incorporated into the episodes, like the Friends sets. Hopefully the eps will be the full length versions even before they trimmed them down for the original airings on NBC. I love that it says "hours of never before seen footage"

Exactly...besides, this release will set new records on dca.com for variant covers.

It will contain all three. Keep in mind that Season 1 & 2 are together (in the same boxed season), and 3 is separate (season one was a short season).

Financially speaking, the separate box sets. The total cost will be less. The collector's set will be more.

That's not the point. No-one sane would refuse to buy these just because of the box art, but that doesn't stop us commenting that the box art is grim.

My feelings entirely. This isn't a Disney release for crying out loud.
