I would say, highly doubtful. Newman didn't appear until the 15th episode in season 3. And you don't even see Newman. He hurls himself off the building and the voice of Newman was done by Larry David. Wayne Knight didn't make his appearance until a few weeks later in ep. 17 that same year. So all in all he was only in 4 of 23 episodes that year.

What is released this fall probably won't include season 3. 1 & 2 combined more than likely, along with the pilot.

So I say, Wayne Knight is a no go for the upcoming dvd. IMO.

The first release will probably just be a single disc of season 1.

And it'll cost $39.95.

And the extras will all be recycled from previous promotional specials.

And you'll buy it anyway. ADMIT IT!

IMHO the series started to get really funny once Kramer grew sideburns. I will probably hold off and start buying from season 4 or so.

I just got severe chest pains thinking about how much scratch Jerry Seinfeld will be raking in with these releases.

While I won't be getting them, as I really did not care for the series, I can say this.

It is good to see such a highly regarded and sucessful TV show being released finally. It gives hope for other shows that haven't been released yet.

I know many people that have been wanting and waiting for these. I figured they would eventually find their way, it was just a matter of time.

to all those posting that are happy by the news and I hope the release lives up to your expectations.

Sarcasm noted. But honestly I'm betting on more than that. The pilot withstanding, the first season only had 4 episodes! Surely they will do this right and combine season 2(12 eps.). That would bump this to a total of 17 ep.

This is in the HBO series range. Then they can charge $80 for it like HBO. <--- sarcasm.

It'll only be a small set, 1 disc for 8 episodes.

New info on the Seinfeld DVDs. Apparently, they will release the first 3 seasons on one day. Seasons 1 & 2 will be together in 1 box, with season 3 released separately, each set will retail for $50. They'll also release a gift set with seasons 1-3 and a yet-to-be-determined gift item, retailing at $130. (How about a coffee table book that turns into a DVD player? )

Full report, including planned extras, can be seen here

You know, at first I wasn't interested in buying this set, even though I enjoyed the show, but after reading about it, I can feel my willpower crumbling. :P

Let's hope the video quality of these Seinfeld sets are much better than the average quality of Columbia Tri-Star DVDs. Examples of a typical Tri-Star DVD set include Larry Sanders and Barney Miller, both of which displayed poor video quality, pixelation, DVD artifacts and some episodes were mastered from poor original sources. I just hope they take the extra steps to make sure Seinfeld is done correctly, because this show is the prized jewel of the Columbia Tri-star library.

I'm liking this approach, but still have worries of the video quality.

Did anyone catch the "Special Seinfeld Return to Prime Time!" on NBC tonight?

It was just the 7 minute "internet only" American Express commercial with Seinfeld and an animated Superman, followed by another shorter commercial for American Express.

Is this special programming, now? A long form advertisement for a credit card?

I hope this shows up as a "Jeer" in next week's TV Guide.

I don't care what they cost, I'll be getting these the day they drop. I've never been one to be there when the store opens or there at midnight, but here's only title that I'll reserve ahead of time and be there as soon as they'll let me be there to get this set. Having seasons 1-3 drop on the same day is a great idea. I was just checking out the episode guide yesterday and while I see many great episodes from the first season, I was a bit disapointed to see that some of my favorites were at the beginning of season 3.

Honestly, even the video quality sucks, I'll be there. Even if the sets are barebones, I'll be there. Even if they're $100 each, I'll be there. I may be just what the studios like, but this is the only title I'll ever be like this for.

So chalk me up for a gift set purchase. November can't come soon enough!

It may be a commercial, but it's still pretty damn funny.
