They have added a little gold. Off topic, what the hell ever happened to Joe Pesci?

I think the movie's gonna be on one disc.

Look at the menus. The bottom says, "More features on disc 2." On disc 2, it says, "Rest of features on disc 1." Might just be wishing, but I'd think it'd say SOMETHING about the movie if it were split, right? Plus, the sound's not DTS, it's DD5.1 - Gangs of New York was split over two because it had DTS, if I'm not mistaken.

Later.

Can someone fill me in on something? Why is it that in movie posters, ads, and in particular the Goodfellas cover, the actor's names and positions are always messed? Robert DeNiro is in the centre of the cover and his name is above Ray Liotta, and vice versa...

Neat.

Keepcase eh? Interesting... I had assumed that Goodfellas would show up in the 2 disc digipak SE line.

Sepulture: Because DeNiro is the biggest name in the movie. When you look at a photo, you tend to notice what's in the middle first, and when you read, you read from the left. It's all about what you'll notice first.

Ok I see...thanks Yocke, although personally I tend to always notice the central character and the name in the middle first.

Mean Streets looks the same too. I'm not impressed with the minimal amount of effort in the artwork for these releases.

I hope the discs themselves are worth it.
Normally I would agree but when the cover art mimics the original theatrical release poster, the vintage poster collector in me can overlook the cover art work containing large images of the actors.

If the giftset price is retail, it can probably be had for under $50 somewhere. That's $10 a movie. Unfreakingbelieveable.

Warner stated in the last HTF chat that Heat would be on one side of the disc, so I think we can assume the same with Goodfellas.

I'm not sure that's true. I think they have to put the names of the actors in the order that they are billed in the movie. The position of the actors pictures are not necessarily the same as that (although you would think they would try to do that)

I wonder if Henry Hill will be drunk during his commentary?

this is such great news. i never bought the original because of all the problems i read about and am now so tempted to get the box set, though i have mean streets on dvd already and alice on vhs. if mean streets is 5.1 and not 2.0 i might well consider the whole shibang as mean streets and goodfellas alone is worth the price of the set. if not goodfellas will be a much welcomed addition to my collection.

This is great news..man!! BUT

I was wishing for the GoodFellas as DTS.

Also the bloody cover art for the DVD is the same as the flipper..not so great at all...

I Hoped they had put work into it like the R2 or R3 Casino below (can some one confirm this set, and what special features does this set come with)

And will we ever-ever see a R1 box set for Casino as below or even a SE like below....that will be the day when DVD finaly delivers for me....

I still have not bought the Casino DVD cause our R1 does no justice to this Master Piece called Casino...

Now These are what I call AWSOME Covers...PERIOD!!

Box Set

DVD Only

I can't believe the Goodfellas announcement this week didn't give more love to this thread.

Apparently, WB is releasing some of their "better" releases in keepcases - the two Matrix sequels, The Last Samurai, the new Film Noir set, and now the Scorsese discs.

Is Warner moving away from the snapper? I sure hope so. Have they released ANY snappers lately?

Oh, and good news, FINALLY, on the Goodfellas SE, which I'm sure is a lot of people's most desired disc (even more than Star Wars for some).

Warner Bros. doesn't like DTS. This is common knowledge.
