I chose other. Some DVDs are worth buying sight unseen while others are only worth a rental to me. I try to buy only the films that I plan to view repeatedly.

DVD Talk Hero
I stopped renting a long time ago.

Chalk another "other".
Most DVDs I buy are blind at this point since the earlier part of my collection consists of titles that I remember from growing up (still trying). This is done with limited information, mostly gathered through sites like these and based on some review sites.
I rarely rent and am always buying, typically 1 to 2 per week. Renting usually applies to titles that I would never buy anyway.
To be honest, not sure I get what the TV has anything to do with a forum of DVD hobbiests ...

Walmart.com DVD rentals has nicely cut way back on my buying, and I'm fine with that. I realized I just was not rewatching many of my purchases, and for $16/mo. I can watch 6 or 7 movies a month. I also use it to watch TV box sets like CSI, spendy sets of shows I'd like to see but don't want to shell out $70 for because the odds of rewatching are slim.
It's saved me money and I still get to watch tons of great DVDs. If I get one through them I'm particularly fond of, I'll buy it.

I went with other.
I buy more then rent, but do both regularly. No recommendations or anything like that. I blind buy films quite often, but I also blind rent quite often as well.
I occasionally, but rarely, buy after renting, if I really liked the rental. Usually I only rent films that I know I would not want to own (fleeting interest films like Gothika, Cold Creek Manor, Ghost Ship, and The 4th Tenor).

I picked Other. I rent sometimes (a movie I want to see, but not enough to buy), but purchase more. If it's a recent movie, if I really wanted to see it I saw it at the movie theater (n which case I buy it). If it's more marginal, I rent it. Older movies are where most of my blind buys show up.

I rent and buy. But I find myself buying a lot more. The only time I would rent movies is on Sundays/Mondays, since the local video store I rent from has a "Rent 2, Get 2 free" deal

I have not rent a video since the the late 1980's. I quit when the rental tapes messed up my VCR heads. Since I have a library of videos that is very large I don't need to rent. I only buy videos I want to watch over & over.

I voted other I very seldom rent I have not had a rental card since dvds have taken over the market. I love new movies I figure if I am going to go see a movie with someone it will cost me about what a movie costs on Tuesday. Thus I don't see to many movies in the theater.
