Lawrence of Arabia 2-disc - Where?

Where can i find the 2-disc LOA(not superbit)? I've looked at a few places, HMV/Futureshop/Indigo/Rogers Video. The only place that proves it exists is amazon.ca! And it will take 1-4 weeks to come and cost $42 with tax(CND.).

Why is it so rare? Any idea where i can get it, not online. The reason i don't want to get it from Amazon is because of the price.
Thanks.

It was a limited edition, so it's probably out of print.

Ps. Just checked a few online stores and they seem to have in stock, even Amazon. Look a little harder.

What's the problem again?

I've seen it at Best Buy. For the last few months I've considered picking it up, but I still haven't.

Get the Limited Edition for the DVD-ROM, the case, and the extras.

Get the Superbit for the right sound mix and corrected pictorial quality (much less edge enhancement, correct color timing, no pixelation, and no incorrect matting of the bottom part of the picture)

This is where I got mine. That way I didn't have to pay the steep $30 or so MSRP. This is a very good set, by the way!

Since the original two-disc "Lawrence" is out of print, who knows how long you'll be able to find copies? If you're going to get it, get it now. The Godfather box is in print and will be readily available for awhile.

And just to avoid confusion, the new Superbit is two discs too, so when you see it listed as a two-disc set, make sure they're talking about the original limited edition.

I got it used for $19.95 at DVD Empire. I didn't realize how good a buy I got.

RE: Columbia House. The Superbit is available as an enrollment. The LE is available as a phone only enrollment. Both are available as fulfillments.

Peach, I don't know why you insist on always making such accusatory posts, but I wasn't trying to "pressure" The Ferret into buying "Lawrence" for some nefarious reason. It's not like I'm sitting on a horde of DVDs I'm trying to unload.

The Ferret was contemplting which DVD to buy and I made a recommendation that has some basis in fact. The "Lawrence of Arabia" LE is out of print and will be gone when existing stocks are depleted.

No one knows exactly how long that will be --- a few weeks or a few months. It's certainly something to take into consideration when making a buying decision.

Didn't mean to pressure.

No pressure at all don't worry. I'd rather not buy online unless from Amazon, what's this FYE i hear so much about? Is it only in the US? I just found out the 2-disc 'Kwai' is also an LE like 'Lawrence', in case anyone didn't know...

I just found out Lawrence ships in 24 hours now and not 1-4 weeks like i said... i swear it was 1-4 weeks just a few days ago.

Kwai sets

Here's the thing with Kwai:

There were two releases of the SE version, one in a digipack style case, the other in, I believe, a slim double amaray. So if packaging is a factor, you may want to hunt it out at a B&M for the harder-to-find digipack.

They also released a 1-disc edition of Kwai at the same time, as opposed to the 1-disc LOA which came after the OOP LE.

LOA: Lots of Acronyms. (And yeah, I know an acronym is technically only when the letters make up a word, like RADAR or LASER, but cut me some slack. What is LOA, then, a monogram?)

BOMM,

CS

Both LoA and Kwai are available as phone-enrollments for Columbia House. You can't beat it for that price.

And if you don't want to fuss with Fulfillment titles, there's a "Buy 9 for $9.99" deal where you just pay the $89 and you're DONE.

They have a bunch of more expensive Warner 2-disc SEs available as fulfillments, too.

From http://www.overstock.com/faq03_frame.html :

Product Availability
Unlike most other Internet retailers, Overstock.com carries a full inventory for every product we sell. This means that when we say an item is in stock, we mean it. In rare cases, however, we may take your order and then discover that the product is not available for shipping (i.e., it is damaged or defective). In this case, we will notify you via e-mail that it is on back order and do our utmost to fulfill the order as soon as possible. You will also have the option to cancel the order.

Because of the great deals we offer, many of our products sell out very quickly. In addition, because many of our products are "close-outs", when they are gone we may not be able to re-stock when products sell out. We do update our site hourly, but there is an inevitable delay in reflecting the fluctuations of quantities of product on hand—particularly since thousands of people visit our online store every day. To avoid missing out on our featured items, we encourage you to act quickly.
Overstock is not like your traditional retailer. They do not attempt to keep full stock of all currently in-print titles. They take what they get in closeout deals and then liquidate them. Thus, the "Low-Stock" warning on any of their products should not be taken as an indicator of the availability of a product in the general marketplace.

The 2-disc LE of LoA (and Kwai, for that matter) is NOT OOP, and is readily available for purchase at most well-stocked retail locations. Also, as mentioned, both are available for enrollment at the Columbia House DVD Club.

Todd, both LE versions of Larry the Arab and Kwai are out of print.

They're still pretty well stocked at retailers, but retailers cannot order more inventory if they run out.

Neither RADAR nor LASER are "words." But "loa" is a word - it refers to any(?) spirit/ghost in the pantheon of the afro-caribbean religion commonly known as "voodoo" in the West.
