The obligatory "My DVD Collection" links...

Does anyone actually visit these ? I mean, yes I track all my DVDs with software at home, but I really never thought anyone would want to sift through my collection to see if I had a certain title...

Or are you just looking to pilfer titles from other people's collections by making trade offers ??

I wouldn't want to go to the hassle of reentering all of my own into an online site, let alone look through someone elses. I don't get it....

Can someone recommend a good free program to use at home to track DVD collections? I'd like to have one. Right now I ust enter my titles into a Word document.

My collection is small, but if I might as well start at the beginning.

I could also use a program to keep track of things like my Dreamcast games.

I do check other peoples list occasionally. I sometime refer to my modest list to see what version of something I have or what features are on a particular dvd I own. Examples such as what dvds do I have that have dts audio or which Jurassic park do I have.

I do quite often. Helps me understand the person a little better, the types of films he/she likes, gives me ideas for films I might enjoy if said person has a lot of movies I enjoy. I don't usually look at collections that are close to 800 or 900 though. That is just too broad to guage much on.

i like to browse..it is always fun to see what other people's likes and dislikes are. Also, it is a good way to see what else I might want rather than going to a retail store and sifting through the aisles or even online where you would have to go from one category to another..this way it is all together, a cornucopia to look through and get ideas all in one area...at least that is how i see it. also cool to see similar ones that people have of mine. "the killer: criterion" for example.

once and a while I'll look, just because I'm curious what kind of movies other people have.

Well, browsing through your DVDAficionado collection, I unfortunately ran into your American Pie and Austin Powers collections and therefore had to stop.

BTW, here's my collection, complete with category sub-folders.

I'm a huge snob so I use other people's collections to judge them. So far I've only been really impressed by three members--FilmFanSea and two others I can't recall.

I like to browse through others' collections... sometimes it makes me remember a movie that I like that I'd forgotten about.

I often browse others lists just for the chance they have something I wanted but forgot to get.

I have looked through your collection before. Kinda odd since it isn't in your signature. I remember thinking this guy sure does like Star Trek.

I need to get out more I think.

Wow, those other two must have impressed the hell out of you.

One day I'll get off my lazy ass and catalogue my collection so people can check it out. For now, you will just have to take my word for it that I am a true cineaste, with impeccable taste.

Hehe... yeah, I knew that sounded funny when I wrote it. I don't think they were regulars on the forum, so I don't remember their screen names. But I do remember being impressed at the time and wishing my collection were that good.

I like the features that DVD Profiler offers, but I absolutely hate the way it looks - picky me. I use Guzzlefish myself. It allows both DVDs and CDs, which is nice. I like what I've read about DVD Afficionado, but I haven't tested it much yet.

I don't get it....
you either want to share yer collection with others...or you dont. you dont. by checking out other libraries....I have added many titles to my own collection that I may have never come across, otherwise. there are many members here with fine collections, and it sometimes helps to know what someone is "into" when conversing with them in this and other forums. someone must be checking out mine...I get e-mails every week or so asking about a title in my library. this has led to a few on-line friendships that I cherish...and it's because of the dvd/film world that we hooked-up.

btw, DVDAF is going through some killer upgrading. the new release section, which includes other regions, is looking fantastic!

I finally made up some folders for my on-line library, although I'm still not finished adding titles. the folders need to be fined-tuned.

so check out my collection, if you want.

I usually check the collections, but only to see if anyone else owns a copy of 'Mystic Pizza'...
