Probably because it's awful John Tesh quality new age crap music and it doesn't fit in the film.

Mohicans - theatrical cut

Review of the R4:

and the R2:

Multi-region has been a given for me for so long now, it kinda boggles my mind that some tend to feel like 'it isn't out' unless it's in R1. Seriously folks, for minimal expenditure, you get a huge payoff. This is only one example...

This is a region 1 forum, so we discuss region 1 dvds. I am an advocate of multi-region players as much as anyone but there is a place for discussions of non-region 1 dvds (International DVD-Talk).

I was a bit disappointed in the DD 5.1 mix on the Director's Cut. It was a bit weak. Sounded mono at times. Because the movie was recorded in Dolby Stereo, not even Dolby Surround

After reading all the reviews and comparisons on the various releases and versions of the film, I've yet to see a "good" version. Each release suffers from its own shortfalls, albeit some fall much shorter than others.

Bottomline.... Is there going to be a new release to fix the existing problems with transfer of the original Theatrical version? If so, I think it'll be worth the wait. If not, I guess I'll just have to settle.

I want the theatrical version bad enough, so I'll probably go with the R2 DVD.

So which is the better version of the movie? The region 1 DC with DTS sound or the Region 2 Theatrical with DD5.1?

It all depends on which you value more: DTS sound or theatrical version.

Saw the Director's edition last night night, and have to agree with most people here. My old laserdisc version sounded alot stronger, and the "cut" scenes were sorely missed.

I just posted this in the forum concerning directors cuts, but my comments seem to fit more perfect in this forum about The Last OF The Mohicans. I can't agree more the laserdisc sounds much better. If you got 'em, hang on to 'em!

Posted under directors cuts.....
Since we are talking about directors cuts of movies, is it frustrating when a directors cut is the only version available on DVD? What comes to mind is The Last Of The Mohicans. My personal opinion is the dirctors cut is absolutely horrid and I am shocked that Michael Mann would consider the DVD the preffered cut of the movie. The DVD has some of the great music completely taken out, and the sound is nowhere close to the Laserdisc. I will be hanging on to my laserdisc, and have already sold the worthless DVD.
