Do wrinkled DVD cases bother anyone else?
I'm sure most people know this, but much of the time the clear plastic on the back of keepcases has a bunch of fine wrinkles that make it look like crap. Out of the last two DVD's that I've bought (Matrix Revolutions and Kill Bill) I couldn't find a single copy in the store without them. Are these getting on anyone else's nerves?

Absolutely. That's one of the reasons why I keep a stack of Amarays ready to swap out... The other reason is, if it's not an Amaray style case, I'll replace it.

I've replaced out some badly wrinkled ones before, but usually I tend to overlook that.

Slight wrinkles don't bother me. What actually annoy me more is that some of the DVD cases have those extra UPC code stickers on the case itself. I checked the UPC on the cover sheet and the sticker, and found them to be the same all the time. Why put extra sticker on a case when the cover sheet already have the UPC?

I always try to pick out the ones that aren't damaged whenever possible, but if all are wrinkled, I will still buy it. It does bother me, however. Rattlers (when the disc inside is loose), however, I would NEVER buy, even if it is the last one on the shelf. I would sooner go somewhere else.
By and large, most of my DVD purchases are online, though, so I don't have much choice, but so far 98% have arrived free of any damage and without rattling.
Damaged box sets, however, royally annoy me, moreso then damaged amarays. I thought long ans hard about returning the Scream boxed set to DDD when the box came damged (including small tears and wrinkled corners), but didn't want the hassle. Besides, all the DVDs were intact, with the only rattler being Scream 3, which was still okay.
I know what you mean, believe me.

If its slight, it doesnt bother me. If its really bad it bugs the hell out of me. My copy of Sleeping Beauty is horrendous. The entire backside is all bubbled strangely, and i couldnt tell because there was a slipcover over it.

It bothers me tremendously. Paramount seems to be the worst offender. It happens when they put those security stickers on the top of the case. However it is put on tends to push on the plastic rather than wrap around it. But yes, it really ticks me off.

Well I value the appearance of a dvd case...I value the movie itself more. My biggest pet peeve is that sticky residue that remains on the dvd case (this is when I purchase PV movies) after I take the price sticker off. I wish Blockbuster would bloody shrinkwrap!

Though wrinkled covers do bother me slightly (especially on expensive items, like Criterions), what really annoys me is when the outer wrapper is sealed onto the keepcase's spine (an all-too-common occurrence with Fox DVDs.)

Yeah, I feel you. I hate those wrinkled cases.
I buy a lot of discs (most of them) online, and so I can't always check them out. I've noticed it more with 2-disc sets (double-alphas) than single discs too.
Of course, what annoys me even more is when the cover insert is sticking up and the plastic security sticker has stuck to it - and when you try to peel it away it rips the cover at the top, exposing this jagged white line. ARGH! It makes me want to kill everyone in the store.

Some of the new DVD cases just don't have that same solid feel as AMARAY-branded ones. Especially the cheap-ass cases Fox uses for their Studio Classics line.

Yeah they bug me, but the more DVD's I get the harder it is to keep caring about those details. Sometimes when I have more free time I'll swap out more favored movies with movies I like less....quirky perhaps.

ROFL, I do the same exact thing. If I don't see the little AMARAY letters on the inside of the case, its being swapped.
Some of the newer Amaray-style cases have "AGI Media Packaging" printed on the inside, instead of the word "Amaray". But it's still an Amaray "hub" (with the patented "push" tab thing-a-ma-jig).
"Don't Say A Word" arrived in one of the "AGI" cases. It's exactly like an Amaray, except the door hinge seems a tad "stiffer".
