Free Kill Bill? Keen!
So today was a good day. I win a radio contest for a free showing of Alamo. So, at the theater the station was giving away free swag, like they often do - CDs, posters and so on. And of course one DVD: Kill Bill vol 1, if you knew some trivia: Who was the name of the actor who made the sword?
My hand shot up, knowing the answer of course - I'm a huge Sonny Chiba fan. And of course when I got picked I suddenly and completly spaced. Um, ah - er. . . before I blurted out the answer. Hell, I almost said Toshirô Mifune.
So, keen. I had no plans whatsoever to pick this up - and if I did it almost certanly would have been the boxed set in the works. Still, you cant beat a free movie with a free movie.
(Alamo was pretty good, too)

Absolutly zero plot and bloody as hell, but hey - that's the style of these old movies. As such, I thought it emulated them perfectly.
Oh and I *LOVE* the soundtrack. That funky Samurai/Spagetti Western/Ennio Morricone score fit the movie to a T. As soon as I'm employed again, I might have to pick up the CD.
So, all in all - I enjoyed myself (although given my druthers, I probably would have waited until the boxed set came out before I got the disc), and I'll certanly be checking out the second one come this friday.

The point of this thread is that the apparently useless data that you store with care in your cranium might actually pay off some day. And that's pretty damn cool. I'm waiting for the radio contest that asks what Elrond's first movie was.
